MotoGP » Lorenzo 'hammers' home Mugello MotoGP win

“Only 'hammering' every lap and going faster and faster from 1m 48.1 then into the 47s could I open a bit to Pedrosa then little by little it got better and I could start to breathe” – Jorge Lorenzo.

Lorenzo and Rossi were quite evenly matched at the time when they were on the same bike and Lorenzo had finally matured as a premier-category rider. The period I'm referring to is the 2010 season until Rossis injury in Mugello.

They are different riders as far as their approach is concerned: Lorenzo is more of a "put the head down and sew the laps together with steel wire" rider whereas Rossi is more temperamental, a bit more prone to mistakes (and maybe a bit more sensitive to mis-setups of his bike) but totally unrivalled when it comes to a duel for the win.

These are the golden years for Yamaha and JL - what a team ... well done!

They may as well hand over the trophy now as no one in all honesty is going to catch them this year, next year or the year after, the Yamaha race team and JL are rock solid and its great to see such perfection...!

Mighty Honda don't have an answer and it must be hurting big time - will Marqez fair any better against Yamaha and JL - not likely Moto GP is finished. If you want to see close racing you will have to wait a couple of years..

Is anyone else sick of this Hammer/Butter thing? I was pretty much done with it in 2010. Maybe it's only b/c I speak spanish so the whole gag is old to me now.

collected my mcn (more crap news)this morning (sadly its got no weekly competion)again managed to get rossi on front and back pages but not a mention of lorenzo.race reports as usual were pathetic, they should not be called race reports more like latest rossie gossip or who hasnt apolagised to who (who f*****g cares.i also bought for the first time the monthly mcn sport, which at least managed to keep rossie off the cover being the tt edition.i liked the mag great pics and interesting reading but still no race reports for moto gp,wsb or even the tt!.this weeks mcn claimed to have guest editor kevin schwantz i wonder how he would have felt winnig a gp after a blistering ride to get completly ignored by uk leading bike press, its no wonder moto gp is dying a death.
