Cal Crutchlow savours his race-long tussle with Valentino Rossi, insisting it was an educational experience for him...

Clean and error-free race from Cal, and he closed down the gap to Dovi quite smartly in the last few laps, but damn, those awful starts are killing his races. Got to fix that.

Maybe the team should briefly run him on a full fuel load during a free practice? It's no good having a good grid spot when you constantly lose 4-5 places by the first corner.

Of course he said that - His future team mate and future bike. Cynically one could say that he should easily have got past Rossi. Much better bike and several places behind his own team mate Dovi again.

Silverstone - starts last, finishes sixth.
Mugello - starts sixth, finishes sixth.

Just what is the point of qualifying well only to then let all the QP work go to waste? His starts are a joke and it would appear he's now having trouble passing other riders quickly. Just compare Cal's performance to Dovi's - a decent start and passing from the word go and continuing to make passes thoughout the race. Four podiums now for Dovi, how many for Cal?

If Cal did have any claim to the works M1 it's surely gone now.

So frustrating and what a shame.

Not forgetting of course that prior to today he only had 6 racing laps around here, so I'm sure it *was* a great learning experience to ride with Rossi. Taking into consideration the track experience of his major rivals I think Cal acquitted himself very respectably today. It's far from an easy circuit to master.
