MotoGP » Lorenzo to Ben Spies: Stay calm and focused

“I don't think it's a question of talent or speed... If Ben is focused and calm he can be on the podium and sometimes win” – Jorge Lorenzo.

@ there there now
"Any rider who has a anti competitive clause in there contract are in fact saying, i cannot win without having an advantage, cheating by other name."

You do realise in saying that, that you are effectively saying that Rossi needed to cheat throughout his MotoGP career with Honda & Yamaha and all those titles? (I'm not disagreeing with you at all by the way, just pointing this out).

On topic and Ben... he's got to be in a horrible rut right now, and it's very, very hard to climb out of it when your confidence has to be in tatters and the pressure to deliver mounts with every weekend. It's a harsh world, and even with his undoubted talent he's running out of time to get back in track, and that just has to make it even harder. One decent ride and result could tip the balance and he'll be back... but another bad one...

I was going to mention replacing Tom Houseworth, but I thought I would be crucified here.

From what I understand, his crew does not have the experience to tune a GP bike.

I remember an article stating that in WSB they were doing adjustments in 50mm increments, in GPs they are doing 5mm increments and getting more significant changes.

Seems like they haven't gotten the grasp of making predictable adjustments on the machine.

Just assuming that BS did vacate the seat... there'd be a massive bun-fight & things could get ugly.
If you are Dovi and you don't get the gig then on current form you got be well p1ssed off & wondering what the hell you have to do. If VR got the ride over him Dovi'd be within his rights to go supernova.
If Rossi did get the Yam ride, then you'd have to bet on Ducati wanting to keep Nicky all of a sudden?
Nicky on the Yam? Interesting for sure and I think he'd do pretty well (but think the chances are about as slim as cal's TBH).
Right now both Nicky, Cal, & Dovi all look to be doing decent jobs and putting in big effort - yet all of them could be screwed one way or another by the fallout from Rossi (who ironically is under-performing hugely against fans and employers expectations and what he was hired for).

Ben Toseland really has to improve here, he does well at his home tracks, it is now or never. He has to make the podium in one of his next two races.

So you believe he had some clauses in his contracts then, well if he did and it's true then that's cheating in my book, and he is not worthy of said championships, but only if it's true mind.

Houseworth knows engines and superbikes, really starting to wonder if he knows enough to be crew chief for a motogp rider.
But if Ben were to jump back to WSBK I think Tom would be the guy he would want setting up his superbike.

Sounds like Dovi is getting pretty impatient and fed up with the whole thing. In his view he's done more than enough to get the ride, and he's beginning to be quite outspoken about it now, threatening in recent days to move to Honda Gresini or maybe leave MotoGP altogether to go to WSBK, where he feels he'll stand a chance of winning a championship on a factory bike. It doesn't sound like he has any ambition or desire at all to stay with Tech 3.
