You wouldnt expect him to be beating Spies so yeah he is doing well.

His results are maybe a little better than expected because of the problems HRC are having with chatter/tyres but thats racing

Thanks to the switch back to 1000cc bikes, the satellite bikes are much closer to factory bikes than they used to be.

I wonder if the Honda bosses will be asking themselves "why didn't he ride this good when he was with us?"

I think Dovizioso hasn't beaten Lorenzo in a race yet. So his results are mostly the result of fever competetive bikes and Honda struggling, not because he is the fastest rider of a specific brand.

He most likely just disqualified himself from getting a factory Yamaha, he vented about Yamaha dragging it's feet by not making it's decision who will be on the factory bike next year, he even stated that WSB is something he would be interested in.
