Steve Rapps bike is going ok for its first couple laps ever!even after the suspension they designed the bike around never showed up and they had to make do with their ama superbike setup! Good on them for having a go!

@Realist - Comparing lap times from different years is problematic due to differences in track surface, temperature, and tyres. Of course the bikes are different too, but the engine layout and sharp power delivery of the Ducati is much the same. Layout seems to be the cause of its handling issues, and it was potentially slightly worse before as the front cylinders were still horizontal when Stoner rode it. The Ducati suits its home track best and struggles more at a circuit like Laguna Seca where it can't stretch its legs. Comparing the relative performance of the bikes, Yamaha to Ducati, it's obvious now that Stoner did have to ride very hard to stay with Rossi in their famous battle here.

I don't understand why people under-rate Dani. He is a brilliant rider but the accident with Sic knocked his confidence a bit. He is getting back to his best now and is more than a match for George on equal machines. The Yamaha is a bit better sorted than the Honda this year. You only have to watch a few races to see what a handful the Honda is at times.

If the new engine and chasis gets rid of most of the chatter problem I expect Dani to win his share of races in the second half of the season and make it an interesting contest. Casey sticking with the old chasis confused me. He isn't getting anywhere with the old one so he may as well give the new one a try.
