We all know why he's going back to Yam because the establishment thinks it will be a big money maker! Rossi has more balls than Col Gaddafi! And for that person who wrote he's found humility by losing, I say take off your Rose-colored specs or top smoking the doobs because this man is in it for himself ( always has and always will). As long as his face his in a camera he's happy, and, of course, the poor wages he gets, and apart from that the decent ride he's got for nothing. Oh sorry yeh he was world champion. I almost forgot!

I really can't see why a company as large as Yamaha aren't looking to the future and securing Cal or Dovi on a factory bike but looking to the past and wanting to hire Rossi who lets be honest doesn't have more than another season or two in him I feel so desperately sorry for Cal and Dovi who have out ridden Ben all year and this is going to be the thanks that they get.

I have been a life long yam fan and always ridden yams but if this is the way you are going to treat two loyal young riders then I hope the repsol garage get their act together for 2013 and are super quick from race one......

My opinion is they are looking to Rossi because he can bring them sponsorship, retire as a Yamaha ambassador and then possibly head up their rumoured WSBK project if he wants to.

They can look to the future in 2 years time, right now they have Jorge they don't need any new young talent for at least a few years.

And remember the Yam Rossi history, I'm sure there are lots of people within Yam who will be happy to see him back. I think Rossi back is part business decision and part because of past history.

Rossi is simply running away from Ducati because he cant ride it.Simples!
How long will he play second string to Lorenzo before he spits out his dummy and starts demanding special treatment like he has had all his career.I hope Lorenzo stomps him.I have lost all respect for him.

@Yamaha r1..

fact is Dovi is not a champion caliber rider, he's had his chance with the Repsol Honda and did not deliver results worthy of a factory bike. Cal has shown some potential, but it appears he can't match Dovi's pace.

Part of Yamaha's plan with Rossi is he can bring sponsorship money, and besides he has done a lot for them in the past and this their way to show some appreciation.

Rossi should really feel confident to go fight Lorenzo on the same bike... If he doesn't feel confident he can beat him he should go to SBK starting on 2013. Hopefully he'll not make a decision based on money...

For once I'm actually going to root for Lorenzo.

Rossi going back to Yam just shows how much his star has diminished. Maybe Kenny Robert Jr was right in saying that he always got the best bikes at the right time. It's obvious that he can't ride the Ducati, while Stoner can. Stoner can basically ride anything with two wheels. Shame he's retiring.

The only person who I've gained respect for out of this is Hayden. He puts out some fast laps on a crappy bike. But Rossi and Ducati are both losers for taking such talent and utterly wasting it.

Preziosi needs to be fired or else Ducati should just pack it up in MotoGP and go back to full WSBK support. MotoGP is a joke to what it used be anyway! Look at the best idea they can come up with, crappy CRTs!

Dovi and Ben, top riders? ..not by a long shot.

CRTs were a mistake from the start, they are grid fillers nothing more.

dorna should consider having 6 honda's, 6 yamaha's, and possibly 6 ducati's and 4 suzuki's.. like the days of the 500s to fill the grid.
