How about Ben Spies? Sure he has had a terrible season, but he has a rough riding style and I think if he goes back to his "elbowz" riding syle, then it might be a match. He might also need a refresher race with Mat Mladin to get him back in his game.

LOL downunder
Your post is funny.Really funny.First of all this man is from the country that produce RIHANNA.Casey won his title on the duck by sheer luck??That really is a stupid comment. The facts are that Stoner won 23 gp's on the duck,24 pole positions an a championship. At last count he is 37 times a winner,so yeah i would call that pretty lucky..i don't know how many podiums he has that was due to luck either. The fact is when you compare Stoner's 27 races on the duck to Rossi's 27,it's no comparison.Even with Casey's worst two years,he had 7 wins an numerous podiums.Valentino has gotten a very good ass licking in the process,so people have to spout nonsense to defend him, like,if it was Casey riding the bike,he could'nt win on it either....NONSENSE.

re: "A factory Ducati ride will pay much better than Tech 3 and the personal leathers and helmets deals are worth more when you ride in a factory team than for a satellite"

ok, but how much more...? millions of dollars...? or hundreds of dollars...? i could see now if this were nascar or F1 where fans actually come off the dime and support the sport...? but this is the niche business of motorcycling, that's not what we do here. not saying that it isn't true, i just find it hard to believe that it makes THAT much of a difference.

fans here really don't care much if kit is factory or satellite, all's we care about is if a rider is competitive on it. seems like a "hair-split" whereas there's no evidence we split hairs (short of wobbling CRT's) anywhere else...? strange considering herve does a hell of a job staying "papered up" in sponsorship terms. if it were never mentioned, most wouldn't even know he ISN'T the factory team...!? dude's had monster for a minute now.

Maybe he thinks that without a factory Honda or Yamaha, the chances of winning the title are nil, so going to World Supers will be the eventual answer..... but hey, why not spend two more years (making a whole lot of money) before all that goes down?? And the aforementioned Audi / Ducati garage ornaments as well. I'd do the same thing. Mr 5th-8th, but with fat pockets, not too shabby really...

Could be a risky move for Dovi for sure, however, Ducati needs to figure out how to build a bike that any top rider can win on. Trying to access a rider style that is compatible to your bike is not the way to build a winning dynasty. Until they figure this out, they will always have a tough time attracting the top rider talent.

oh heck ,forget dovi and his smooth style , just stick rea on it,fast an loose, stick it in there and fight it round the corners,a tad like stoner, win it or bin it,and never give up

Poncharal is now publicly denying any negotiations with De Puniet so I don't think there's anything much to that. There was a De Puniet/Tech 3 connection last year too and there was nothing in it then either.

I think maybe a lot of tentative talks are privately held that lead to nothing. According to MCN Herve would prefer to sign a Moto2 rider if he couldn't keep his current riders.
