"This track has strange asphalt that has less grip than what we're used to but that still wears the tyres" - Valentino Rossi.

@Greg

there are two kinds of people...one who can win on the best bike....like stoner on 2007 and 2011, lorenzo in 2010....and then there are those who give up the best bike inorder to try winning on another bike ( and try improving it to be one of the best)

Rossi and Furusawa did that in 2004 when rossi switched from honda(the best bike) to yamaha....rossi tried to do that with ducati, but thats where he thought wrong...

beginning of 2004, the yamaha wasnt a great bike but had a good front and had people like furusawa open to new ideas

the ducati is know for its raw engine and high HP but a sad front end....thus rossi's strengths was taken away....also ducati wasnt open to fundamental changes in the bike which is why rossi hasnt improved the bike and also why stoner chose to leave back in 2010

Eeeeeeew. Talk about slagging and then by persons who are supposed know something about MotoGP.Frankly if I was Rossi I would be perfectly happy to start the race and not wind up needing medical attention. This Ducati sucks and it will be even worse next year. Dovisioso is making HUGE mistake. I would stay on a satellite Yamaha any day. Dunno why everybody is beating up on Rossi - whats he gotta prove? 7 times world champion - thank you. Its hard to enjoy racing on uncompetitive machinery unless you are just a poser.

Valentino should have done a "flyer" to show the world how committed he is to Ducati and racing.

While we're at it, Elias should have done a "flyer" to prove how sh1t he is.

I don't know why they spend all this money on fancy race tracks when you can just set up cones and hay bales in any greasy Walmart parking lot and have a fun weekend of world class racing.

@amma.Your fanboy post doesn't stack up. Stoner wasn't on the best bike in 2007 he was on the fastest. His teammates did nothing on the same bike. Rossi, now on the fastest bike gets beaten by a CRT (road bike)
Rossi is still a great rider but his 7titles have flattered him cos other than 08,09 his other titles have been either on best bike with average team mate or lack of rivals. Look at his main rivals then, Gibernau, McCoy, okada. If Stoner had a works Honda from06 Rossi wouldn't have won anything!

Clackarelli you're wasting your breath. You can point out the facts to the yellow undie brigade till your blue in the face. It won't make any difference. They won't have a bar of it. And that's cool. Each to your own. Even if it is completely delusional.

OK Ammar, go with that, however, the fact remains Rossi took the exact same bike the Stoner just won the last three races in succession on and duly proceeded to lap 2 seconds slower.

@bob

What u know about bikes? Stoner was on this bike a year, race after race, qual after qual. Try to ride R1 for a year and than switch it to the 1198.

I'd say Hayden qualified in 8th and paid a very high price. The fact that Randy is in front of Rossi says something about Randy (greatly underestimated racer) AND something about the Ducati.

That Stoner, who even dropped it on the Honda, would put Hayden's Ducati on Pole is a Fanboy romance...He can't do it on the Ducati and he knows that himself...He just wants Rossi and Hayden to push this nerd-bike over the limit. Rossi is too mature to do stupid things ...sorry for Hayden who's genuinly trying as hard as he can.He deserves a better bike.

Put Stoner back on the Duc and Hayden on the Honda...
