@motogp on front page of comments:

"Rossi had more mechanical problems in his 2006 season with yamaha."

Thanks for reminding me of all the problems Rossi had that year on Yamaha which is why Hayden won the title that season.

I don't have count of the wacky things that happened to Rossi that year but since this year isn't over we can't say Rossi had more bike failures than Spies has yet.

Can anyone recall the different bike issues Rossi had that year?

Also, who was Rossi's teammate in 2k6?

This guy crashes his bike every single practice. No equipment can stand such treatment. It's a ridiculous idea Yamaha is doing this deliberately. It's Spies mistake, he may be a fast rider, but too much of a crasher.

It would be awesome if Spies rode for Honda in GP next year but I think Spies' is choosing to leave GP, it's such BS.

Sad for us fans but I respect him for the decision.

Spies should keep the failed parts and hire an independent lab to check them for tampering. Yamaha are literally playing with his life and that is criminal.

By betraying Spies Yamaha has betrayed all USA riders.

Yamaha FIRE Lin Jarvis or we won't buy your bikes anymore.

signed, the USA.

Riding a Honda won't help him. If he keeps throwing his engines on the ground almost every practice, they will keep up blowing, frames will continue to crack. He must learn to keep his equipment intact for the race day.

It's foolish to say that Yamaha would willingly sabotage Spies' bike.. They have the team championship, the constructor championship and THEIR REPUTATION at stake..

There has been problems between the management and him.. But to think that they are trying to kill him for that is really really dumb.. I think most of the problems Ben have had are crew related.. The run of bad things he is havin is unbelievable.. The important thing is that he doesn't lose faith in himself.. I really thought Ben would win Indy2012..

And I think Ben has silenced most of his doubters with his pace this weekend, marring the race fk up..

Hey Truthful you are aware they have 2 bikes and extra parts right?

After a crash they are supposed to make sure the bike is still in working order and 100% safe to ride or they use their 'B' bike. That often means tearing it down and checking all the parts even looking for micro fractures. Nobody is stupid enough to race at 200+ mph with weak untested parts after a crash.

Either Yamaha isn't giving him the support they need to or it's sabotage.

You honestly believe if JLo crashed Yamaha would even LET him race that same bike without checking every fing part for micro fractures, etc?

Don't be foolish.

@Truthful
if dropping your bike was gonna cause mechanical failures like you say, how come Stoner or Rossi or Hayden's Ducati's, that had many falls from front-end issues, didn't suffer lots of mechanical issues like Spies has had??

it's the crew! - Unregistered

Spies had a number of mechanical issues in WSBK, including a tool left on the bike.

It's not yamaha. Bikes breaking during races doesn't help sales.

If he keeps his crew, he'll continue to have issues at BMW too.

These conspiracy comments are so stupid it's actually funny to read them.

Does anyone honestly think Yamaha would deliberately sabotage their own rider/bike? This is beyond ridiculous!

It's purely down to bad luck whether that be setup problems, testing new parts, rider error and eating the wrong thing.

If you average out the problems each rider has over a couple of seasons it would be pretty similar. Ben's just had a couple if years worth of bad luck in one season.

As for the comments from a senior Yamaha person, that's just more political crap trying to justify their decision to bring back Rossi. By the way, why does everyone think it's Lin Jarvis, it's probably some no name suit running his big mouth do he can feel important.

All the best Ben in wherever your next ride will be.

Peace.

Friend, put in your mind Spies is riding for Yamaha, a team without main sponsor and consequently without too many funds, yet I doubt they have refused to give their riders a new frame, for example. So, the fault may rest on his side of the garage, but never at Yamaha. And engines are limited, they MUST reuse it, even after a crash. Ben Spies has crashed ALL his engines.

They JLo theory is also too much of fantasy, huh? I remember this young guy arriving at Yamaha when Rossi was a the top of his game, riding Michelin tires and complaining about the same things you claim Yamaha is doing to Spies. But he proved himself on track, giving Rossi a ride for his money and consequently becoming the N.1 Rider. I know it hurts to heard this, but Spies is not in the same class as Lorenzo and to me, after realizing he will never beat the guy on a 18 race championship, he gave up and lost motivation.
