Whether you root for Stoner or not, you must write off Stoner from winning the title this season simply because he has injured. His chances to win the title is ultra slim or none. No injured rider win a title at this point unless his name was Hayden and the season was 2006.

Injured Lorenzo, Pedrosa and Rossi can't win a title. It will applied to Stoner too, no matter how crazy he will ride for the rest of the season. He only as good as a sidekick for Pedrosa to win the title.

An ankle injury would cause the rider drop his performance so much as what happened to Biaggi when ride for Repsol Honda in 2005. Stoner season basically was done and the best he can try is he able to finish the season for 2nd in the championship.

So they sold out the Grandstands at Philip Island in 1/3rd the time than the last ten years. They are about to announce extra grandstands. But he has no fans? I would say every real fan of MotoGP and appreciates the skill he shows on the bike is his fan. Anybody who appreciates honesty and 100% commitment is his fan. Never has another rider said anything negative about him and the motorcycle press have always backed him. The only people who seem to have issues are those who only took notice of MotoGP because of the circus antics of Rossi. Since their hero has been shown to be beatable they target those who beat him. Very sad pack of individuals.

@Codger.
I'm happy to see someone on this site has had the pleasure of listening to the music of an MV4 however my all time favourite 4 cylinder was the Gilera when on full song it was divine.
I've seen some of these old bikes doing demo races but it's just not the same.
I remember Barry Sheene getting all excited when he heard they were going back to 4 strokes and how he and myself were so disappointed
The day they dropped the meggas was the day the music died.

I'm so sure that Lorenzo was right. Stoner is amazing in fact. We know it since he grabbed the champion trophy for Ducati. Stoner was born racer and he has been racing for his entire life and he's got the strong heart to win every season.
So, watch out everybody!

Lorenzo too good and he's no longer the crazy guy he was in his first season to drop all the points to allow stoner, I think pedrosa is a real strong candidate this year, if he stays on the bike and don't hurt himself he must have a fighting chance

regardless of whether it was crap or not it is still a factory bike. not a, how do you say.... oh wait YOU said it best..... 'basically what ever crap he could afford'... that was my point.
and no not a factory 250 KTM but a factory 250 Aprilla which in those days were the only 250's to ride. again further invalidating your point.
