MotoGP » Casey Stoner: MotoGP title hopes 'finished'

“It's disappointing that in Indy we had a good chance to get some points back, but now it's finished our championship” – Casey Stoner.

Casey is fast, there's no denying that. And I think he's proven that he's tougher than some people gave him credit for. But you have to be tough as nails in this sport, bottom line. What bothers me is that Casey was cleared to race this weekend until a specialist from Australia looked at his ankle. Then despite the fact that he raced on it last weekend and got 4th, he now needs surgery asap or he could do permanent damage. Is the real answer that Casey saw an opportunity to bow out of a championship he was destined to lose and made an excuse for himself. No one, not even Stoner fanatics, can disagree with the fact that he ALWAYS makes sure he has an excuse!

Any crash is bad but when Vali broke his leg and yes I am a Rossi fan it ruined his chances now Casey knows how it feels I think Dani is having his best year hope he keeps it going but they are all only a crash away from disaster. With 9 titles Vali has nothing to prove just to him self I know he is a winner wish Casey a speedy recovery he is without one of the quickest riders but he has been the same through out his career he will be missed for his riding but not his moaning

Can't wait for the 1000s to arrive they'll be spinning up and sliding all over the track and the big guys won't be disadvantaged,ah 5hit they're here and the only guy that could 2 wheel drift and power slide through corners has had the tyres robbed from under him, damn shame about the guy who the tyre was made for still can't ride his bike and the 2012 championship ends up a Spanish battle.

Stoner is magic on the bike. He and Spies were a pleasure to watch. Now without both of them I find I am losing my hard on for the sport. Smooth like butter lorenzo is about as fun to watch as some guy churning butter. Not to take anything away from him, serious talent, but no fun, same for Pedrosa etc. boring

I think it has become abundantly clear, despite being a Rossi fan, and despite his earlier level of belief in the rider over the machine...the machine has a massive part to play. Maybe not as much as Honda once believed but, somewhere in between.

Stoner and Rossi have both proven this year they require a) top health form, b) top spec tires, c) top spec bike d) a little luck!

Without that combo, a champ one cannot be! Stoner lucked out on the 2007 Duc, the "10 bike length tractor beam on the straight" Duc, and again on the polished Honda last year, after his team mate was knocked out.

This year, Pedrosa has consistently matched or surpassed Stoners QP speeds and race laps...with no excuse.

Fact is, none of them are untouchable, it's a combination of factors.

Hardly a surprise "we" did the same thing at Ducati.
doubt if he will be back now although he will probably do a couple of races to get the sympathy vote.
As for his title hopes finished, well he did that all by himself when he binned it a couple of races ago.

The truth hurts. - Unregistered

Unlucky for Stoner but thats racing. Not the way he wanted to end his career.I wish he would reconsider retirement but that is a forlorn hope.Hope he gets back to full fitness before too long.

"The doctors in America were fantastic but I needed a specialist to study them and give me his report and explain exactly what's gone wrong.

They dont have specialist in America do they?
