“Valentino made the approach to express his interest to return to Yamaha. So the first point of contact came from Valentino's side to Yamaha”

"I think Jorge would honestly have preferred to keep Ben as his team-mate, and that was the way we were going as well in our early mid-season planning."

"But finally Jorge respected Yamaha's decision to bring back Valentino and it is up to us to manage the situation".

So, Jarvis is saying that Lorenzo is a liar, that he really hated Valentino as a team mate and he had to accept Yamaha's decition. Lorenzo in the press he say the opposite, that he likes valentino next to him. What a liar.

@ the truth hurts

I'M not claiming anything. I'm repeating what high-level Yamaha and Honda execs have stated throughout the years. If you disagree, take it up with them. I'm not going to argue with you about it. Read the discussion between me and TalentFan if you need clarification.

Media drivel is what it is. We, as fans, never get the full story. Subtext is our only ally.

@rossi fan
I think you'll find that Stoner said you have to put pride ASIDE to ride the Ducati, and ride it how IT wants to be ridden.
If you're going to quote people, at least get your facts straight. And it's fair to say that there were multiple reasons he defected to Honda. Not the least of which was Livio wanted him there very much...and paid a lot more to get him.

SO the story is HRC and Yamaha never called Rossi, Ducati gave him a reduced offer to resign and Rossi called Yamaha to ask for a job.

Yamaha spent all their money paying Jorge, investing in their future and made an offer to Vale they could afford for his marketing and populatiry for the brand. Jorge would have preferred Ben but had no problem with Rossi as a team mate, which was important to Yamaha based on the investment they made in Jorge.

The M1 is fundamentailly the same bike, it still has 2 wheels, a crossplane engine, Al chassis and 6 gears.

Rossi will receive equal equipment and have the chance over the next 2 seasons to show how good he is.

I still would like the straight poop about how this came down.
"I would say there had been some discussion in the background for some time about a return to Yamaha for 2013 and the real negotiations probably began in July."
Sounds like Yamaha decided to ditch Ben well before
even Mugello and Ben took the bait and made Yamaha's
job immeasurably easier by quitting, Now Yamaha is trying to have it both ways by insinuating Ben had the ride if he wanted it. Ben is immature and easily manipulated.

@ aeolus

That statement would seem to coincide with, and/or corroborate Lorenzo's statement about being notified at the beginning of the season that Rossi would be back. Ben never really had a chance (..nor did Dovi, despite his delusions).

So Rossi had already decided that Ducati wasn't ever going to give him a winner but there was all that loot on the table so he was stringing Ducati along, not taking any risks if he could help it while Yamaha was giving Ben Yamaha rejects and making nice about how much they supported him. Well, it's a tough world and money talks and bull ****e walks as they say. Ben and Mama just aren't up to the game at this level.I suppose it's forlorn hope that he could return on a Suzuki but even that would be a gamble for him. Ben should emulate Rossi and coast from now on.

MotoGP politics, no wonder Spies and Dovi are furious!
