MotoGP » Cal Crutchlow celebrates first MotoGP podium

Congrats to Cal, he put in a very strong ride today, very consistent and without any mistakes. Good start too, which can make all the difference.

He was always going to podium at some point so hopefully with the pressure of securing that first one out of the way, he can continue to build and improve from here.

Nice job.

In fairness, it is easy to shine when Stoner is not on the track.

If Casey was not injured, he would have finished somewhere in top 3, denying Crutchlow of his podium.

Not that Cal is bad rider by any means. He is quiet good, and it will be good fun watching him end Bradley 'payrider' Smith's career next season.

Finally a decent start and look what happens - a podium. Now the podium monkey is off his back (and a contract in his pocket) Cal can concentrate on closing the gap to Lorenzo and Pedrosa in the races.

Well done Cal.

At heartiste. That's a bit negative. Racing is all full of its and buts. Every other rider on the grid had the same opportunity to score a podium in stoners absence and only one rider took the opportunity. Also, dovi had scored podiums with stoner in the race so does cal beating dovi today make it even better? You can only beat who is on track with you and cal beat all but 2. Well done mate.

I guess, the new contract has included the new brakes that lead to the 1st podium.

BTW, most of his lap in the race was high 1m56s which is Dovi didn't have.

@ numpty

I'm not sure he will be among the aliens next year really as he will be on the same bike. Even though he landed a podium today, he was still way behind Dani and Jorge. I'm not so sure he will ever be as fast as the factory bikes....but I may be wrong !!
All credit to Cal though he done an amazing race and completely deserved it.
