I think it's more a fact that they wanted a factory ride. That seems to mean a lot to some guys.

But from these times I think it's clear Rea is not going for outright laps. He is more than likely getting comfortable, adjusting to elements he's not used to etc.

It's all about the money. Never knowing how long your career might last... you take it when you can get it and the factories have it. Even if 2 yrs are spent on a bike that doesn't win... you make alot of $$ and set yourself up for winning as well as the future retirement.

I read an article on it and while no other factory riders are lined up at Ducati... all of the satalite riders are. "Go on take the money and run... ooh, ooh, ooh..."

Come on, kids, nobody is "beating" anybody today: the riders are working on their setups and trying new parts, some even new bikes.

If you want to compare Dovi and Cal, look at the Championship standings: that tells the whole tale.

Have to wait until Motegi race to know how Dovi 2013 ride will be looks like. Usually, Ducati new bike already been released by this time. I guess, Hayden absence cause the delay to Ducati new bike show off.

@nick636 same thing happened during the doohan era. the young pretenders (copyright, mike scott)all jumped off hondas and onto other factory machines in a bid to find something better- and then crashed themselves into hospital trying to keep up with the peerless mick doohan. beattie is a good example.
