Good job Jonny! So pleased he just didn't go out there and wrap the bike around his helmet tying to make an impression. Steady progress throughout the day.

Nice Jonny, and good for Honda for repaying this guy's loyalty!

Repsol/Honda are pretty secure in the team's points total, and Dani will keep a hold of the riders and manufacturer's points so all Rea has to do to is try and beat the satellite Hondas to impress the owners. Cant say Rea has a shot at a legitimate bike in MotoGP unless he podiums though, Spain has too many riders/investment in the ranks to make it virtually impossible for any rider to come from outside to challenge for a podium capable bike, and as good as Tech3 is this year, it wont last for ever, Bridgestone will eventually have to produce a tire that does not slow down Honda or give Ducati serious issues. To continue with these spec tires would mean an exit for Ducati and Honda leaving and offering CRT bikes.

Sounds like JR progressed well over the day and most importantly he learned a lot and didn't crash.

To me his comments regarding the Bridgestone are a better indicator of just how good the MotoGP tyres are compared to the complaints from guys like Stoner, who probably would have had even better tyres during the tyre wars. Rea has come off WSBK spec Pirelli's and was amazed that he could ride the (carbon) front brakes hard at 50 degrees lean angle and the tyres wanted more. For me as a track day rider that is just insane!!!

It makes you appreciate that everything about MotoGP, the bikes, tyres, brakes etc are all the very best and the fact that they impressed someone as good as Jonathan is a nice thing.

I remember watching Rea at Donnington a few years back. He had a spill on one of the first laps and lost a lot of time. But watching him grind that Ten Kate from the back of the pack was a glorious sight to behold. I hope this MGP stint is a sign of things to come. The future is bright & orange for Johnny.

Jonny jumped off a super bike yeaterday so please give him time to recalibrate his grey matter to task hes got ahead. To the peeps thats having a dig, if ye partners moved yer armchairs it would probably take ye 2 week to get the hang of it again.

Tyres dont suit the rider not the bike,Yorgi and Dani are using this tyre no problem but Stoner and Spies struggle.

Tommy:

I bet if he had fired it in the gravel today trying to move mountains youd be slating him for that instead

Its worth remembering that EVERYONE else out there today has had at least half a season on their equipment - not just one test

The fact that Johnny has beat Crutchlow (who was fastest today BTW) and Spies head to head in the past suggests hes no slouch and simply needs time to adjust to Moto GP tyres and carbon brakes

Give this kid time - he will find his feet - itll be a welcome change for him to not have to compensate for a slow/uncompetitive bike like he has to in WSB
