“It has been a great weekend. I signed a new contract, got my best grid position, scored my first ever MotoGP podium and then set the fastest time at the test” – Cal Crutchlow.

Yes, great weekend, and Cal is riding with a lot of confidence. Herve must be wearing a pretty big smile right now.

Just a note of caution though: In his post race interview, Dovi said that Cal's strength is high corner entry and mid corner speed, and that this works particularly well at Brno but wouldn't necesssarily do so at all tracks (eg. Indy). It also might not work if he's in traffic and is slowed mid-corner by another rider (eg. Laguna). So I guess the tighter and twistier Misano will test that.

That aside though, it's all very encouraging, and nice for British race fans to see a UK rider up at the sharp end at last.

Good for Crutchlow but Dovi will be faster than him as will be Lorenzo at the next race. I'm sure Lorenzo would have spanked him today but he was trying out new parts and next year's bike. Just a reality check don't get too excited.

One thing left for Cal is learning how to win on MotoGP bike. Right now his race rhythms pretty much erratic. He just need to keep trimming those inconsistency keep the head down for the first MotoGP race win.

Lol @ the negative comments.

Yes Lorenzo did a high 55 but that was in qualifying.

Lorenzo's best fastest race lap was a 56.274, and Pedrosa's fastest race lap was a 56.346, so Cal's 56.461 on a second tier bike is indeed great!

Funny how people wrote Cal of saying he didnt deserve the ride and shouldnt be in moto gp blah blah blah.......and now he's being mentioned in the same breath and compared to the likes of Lorenzo. lol!

Remember people, theres plenty of humble pie to go around.

These same people are now saying the same about Bradley. have they not learnt anything? LOL. Best to keep quiet for now guys, or we may find ourselves with a humble pie shortage next season.
