Its still pretty pathetic for the whole CRT rules if the private bikes are so uncompetetive that most teams will just switch to the Aprilia/ART bike. Sure they cut cost, but can you really call the ART bike "nonfactory?" Its still made and developed by Aprilia, even if its very slow.

@blah So you would rather have less than 10 bikes on a grid they have got better since the start of the season and will get much better next year trust me but if you wanna see 10 bikes go round a track and see them for 15 secs per lap when you sit at a track side at a race your welcome to

Bring back the Cube! 'kin animal that thing, but probably the most interesting MotoGP bike we've seen.
When the class was conceived, we were supposed to see lots of weird and wacky machines that sadly never materialised.

I wouldn't describe the Aprilla machine as factory bike more a manufacturer produced "customer" bike.

I dislike CRT but understand the financial problems and the factory teams stubbornness to change rules. So with this in mind these Aprilla are the best out of a bad bunch and until a better plan for the future is put in place I hope they continue to improve.

Maybe other manufacturers could make customer specification GP bikes?

The problem with the Aprilia is that is messes up what the authorities were trying to do with CRT.

The idea behind CRT was to create a method of getting new chassis manufacturers into the class. The authorities were looking for something like F1 where most of the teams are independent chassis manufacturers who get their engines from the big factories. The next step would presumably be to bring in a rule meaning teams could buy or lease the same engines as the satellite teams for a capped price.

The rules for CRT should have always stated that chassis built by MSMA members were not allowed.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the biggest problem for the CRT's is not the chassis, but the engine (power and delivery) and electronics.

Aprilia is doing the class a favor by building a complete CRT-bike. Do mind, other manufacturares could build a CRT-bike form their existing superbikes as well.

I understand your point and the spirit of the rules would be to get more chassis builders in and a system like that in F1 would be beneficial.

However the problem we face is the need for more competitive bikes on the grid. If Aprilla are producing an off the shelf customer racing machine that is cost effective for teams this should be welcomed.

If for example kawasaki or some other manufacturer was to develop from their superbike a CRT compliant customer bike that was cost effetive and competitive this should not be discouraged.
