What does he have to loose with the Ducati deal?
Scenario 1: Rides around and falls off a lot = same old Satellite Ducati.. no one can ride those bikes except Stoner.

Scenario 2: Out-performs other satellite bikes = ooo, possibly has the skills to move this bike forward and maybe worth a crack at the 2014 factory site.

Sceanrio 3: Does spectacularly average, off to WSBK for 2014 when possibly other factory equipment is available.

re: "Suzuki wanted to sign Ben in 2009."

and then somebody objective from on high (*cough* kenny roberts *cough*) put a bug in his ear waking him up to the fact that american suzuki in brea...? and suzuki japan...? actually read from COMPLETELY different play books. at that point, the light bulb went on.

The Yamaha is actually the slowest 'prototype' on the grid. You wouldnt know it though :) Considering Bridgestone seem to suite that bike going back to 2008. Anyways Ben on a Pramac sounds like a bad mix, but I cant see it any worse than this year, and he might actually get some credibility out of the deal, especially if Ducati keep working on their bike to get the most out of the crap tires that are offered to them.

Personally, I think Yamaha need bikes in WSBK, and Ben would be better off kicking butt in WSBK, MotoGP is dying, turning in to a Spanish National championship, but if he gets a good pay check, hopefully he doesnt spend that money frivolously.

@ Seriously, what is going on inside Yamaha? If your star players cant wait to get out the door and ride a lame duck of a bike instead, then the bigwigs back in Japan better take a long hard look at their race team management and do a little pruning.

I can't understand why people are still posting that they don't know why Ben would leave Yamaha for Ducati? Spies didn't have a choice once Rossi contacted Yamaha about Returning of course they offered him a Factory bike in return for the Sponsers he will bring, its a no Brainer.Ben caught wind of it and announced he was leaving just like anyone of us would do if we heard we were being replaced.

What in the world is BS thinking ???
He's nuts for not going for the Gresini Honda slot.
Anybody who thinks he has a chance on this pile is Im sorry to say delusional.

If Suzuki wanted Ben Spies they would've got him to ride for them in 2009, fact is that they didn't. There are plenty more riders more competitive than Ben, they'll be looking out for them.
