next race till 2014?? hmmm i get the feeling if any of the Honda riders gets injured in 2013 he will probably be drafted in as a replacement now...fingers crossed though dont want anyone to be injured. Good luck rea as you demonstrated at portimao you are still one of the most naturally gifted riders in WSBK!! be safe!!

wonder if hes goin to get that new superbike, rcv 1000 that honda are building,(costing 40,000 plus)maybe thats why he resigned in wsbk,will it appear in wsbk in 2013,for him to develop,before its public appearance,that might give him some heart,or a reason to stay in wsbk with honda

@Mystic meg:

I feel that it is almost certain they will have a new super bike, as he current blade is not a consistent front runner, and it is Rea making it look better than it actually is

Mystic Meg:

I cant see how Honda could use Rea to develop a radically different new bike before giving it to the public when the bike has to be homologated (i.e. X amount sold TO the public) before it can be raced?

Remember this series is based on production bikes so it certainly couldnt be used under race conditions until it is homologated.......

So it looks like any new bike will have to appear very soon or its gonna be another year riding that pile of dung

He has signed for Ten-Kate, nothing to stop Ten-Kate going to Moto-GP, after all they produce the engine for Gresini CRT.

As has been said, win for Honda with the new Superbike, we get you into MotoGP ala, Little John when he took the title on the RC45 and same as Edwards after his WSB titles with the SP1 and Sp2

it comes to something when Rea's only hope of another motogp race before the end of next season is if someone gets injured :-(

Hope he has some motogp test riding in his new contract at least. and haslam for that matter.

and even if a honda motogp rider is injured next year, Rea will only be asked to replace them if he is not in contention for the WSB title AND there is no clash with the WSB races.

@mystic meg

Firstly the new bike won't be ready in time for next season, Honda announced that a group of engineers have got together to develop it. There's no way they could get it ready and homologated in time.

Secondly even when it is in production there's a good chance it won't be eligible for WSB. The current homolgation rules require that 3,000 units are manufactured and put on sale. It's doubtful that Honda could sell 3,000 bikes at the sort of price you're talking about.

It is extremely doubtful that Honda would build 3000 units knowing they couldn't sell them just to stand a chance of winning WSB. If you're right about the price that's 120 million Euro's down the drain which is rather more than anybody would consider the title to be worth.
