Rossi had a lot of luck in his career. The fact that he hadn't missed a race until Mugello 2010 speaks volumes about how lucky he has been with injuries and how relatively poor his competition is. When one rider dominates, it's usually a sign of an uncompetitive field.

I think the bigger question is whether anyone will beat Agostini's record. I hope not, because poor competition would be required.

@seperated. Agostini used to win by lapping everyone bar his teammate! Is that a mark of competitiveness in the race series of the time?
It is almost impossible to compare era's as in days gone by they raced fewer races per year (in each category) but many raced in more than one category whereas they don't now.
All you can say is ANYONE who wins a world championship does so because they earned it, they don't give 'em away.

Separated ??@@

Rossi was very lucky in his career?
You can be lucky 1 year.
He did not fall till 2010.. that s no luck that s BRAINS ,..
Why do you think he refused to drive Ducati the way Stoner did,, that s again BRAINS that is way at 33 is still there , .. brains not LUCK.. and be ready for next year...

He may not beat Lorenzo but he certainly will be up there.

BRAINS gave him what he has not LUCK....

I love this myth that Rossi could win on the Ducati if he wanted to but just doesn't want to crash or something.. What baloney. The yellow brigade ragged on Stoner for crashing the Duc a bit in 2010 even though he also won 4 times and had 9 podiums, but they quickly lost their voice when Rossi had the exact same amount of stacks the following year on he 800 Duc for a single podium! Rossi isn't capable of winning on the Duc end of story, even given two full years of development, aluminum chassis, better electronics and 10 times as many updates as Stoner saw in the entire time he rode the Duc!
