@Catch Up Casey still hasn't confirmed he will race at Motegi, he's waiting for the doctors to OK him. Sure they'll have booked flights, hotel, etc for him. But unless he was definitely not racing they would do that wouldn't they? No point waiting until a couple of days before practice started to book stuff.

As you say, however, if he races he won't be riding for the win. And the only way to guarantee he'll beat Jorge is to ride 100%. It's that close between them.

And also if they leave it until they're at the track for the final medical they won't need to field a replacement rider.

@petrolbounce: That's kind of why I was wondering about a progressive points system--as the season goes on, a win becomes worth more so that building up a points lead early in the season is still beneficial, but it's more difficult to put the championship away early as a late surge by a competitor (like Dani) means they could still catch you by taking the last three or four wins of the season. Conversely, it means that if you can't get up front immediately, it's not as damaging to your points if you can't get the bike sorted in the first couple of races.

Just for fun, I played around with Jorge and Dani's points in a rough progressive system scenario: Points for 2nd place and down stay the same as now, but 1st is worth 25 for the first 4 races, 30 for the next 5, 35 for the next 4, 40 for the next 2, 45 for the next 2, and 50 for the last one. Things get really interesting toward the end of the season...:-)

Jeez and you guys think Carmelo is trying to manipulate the racing for entertainment value. I'm glad none of you lot are running the show.

EVERY GP is just as important, from the first one to the last and EVERY GP counts. The points system pays the most consistently fast riders, which is exactly what it should. It's not Lorenzo's fault he can "settle" for second instead of having to fight for it.

So, now it's time to play "pussy" strategy ..?! Really sucks you know, spending an hour just to see one of the two top rider play safe in the rest of the season.. I can't blame jorge, it's a wise decision. Just sucks..

I saw a chicken **** riding a bike on tv!!!! Lorenzo went home and told his mama, " i'm riding with full 100% electronics support, traction controls and etc. since they're opting for spec ecu probably in 2014 nows the best time i really learn to ride a bike like a real man, with the electronics reduced to 80% i touched the trottle a lil bit and the bike wobbles, i peed in my pants and totally soaked it so i ride in a good manner just to finish the race"
