Instead of changing the points system how bout you bring the competition to the front or hinder the front to bring it to the back. Carmelo Ezpeleta will make more than likely the later happen and I for one cant wait. Moto2 and 3 urinate all over the premier class as far as action go IMO.

get rid of HRC/Repsol and YFR and you will have better racing. Limit the engineering support from 'factories' to nil, let the teams employ all their engineers directly and keep Honda-Yamaha from providing engineering support. Also get rid of Bridgestone, and bring in 3 other tire makes to build control tires (controlled production/distribution) and get rid of the limited testing for teams who cant finish on the podium regularly.

chicken? how many times did jorge beat dani, is he a chicken to cos he could not keep up? dump the stupid engine rule, i dont want riders in the pit, i dont want riders thinking about engine miles, i wanna see races not calculating and thinking 6 races further, racing is about the MOMENT about NOW, give it all you got, and now we see riders cruising because what if my engine breaksdown.! i wanna see races like moto2.
all the rules are realy killing the sports.

500cc enough engine enough petrol and a controle ecu. and its done.

Jorge would have pushed if he could, be he could not catch Dani, he had at least two moments where he could have crashed on his M1, Dani was so much faster than Jorge it really shows how far down the road the rest of the pack are so far as engineering efforts go, now that Dani has the full backing of his team while Lorenzo has been enjoying full backing since the beginning of the season (no Spies)

@JapLance--I was just tossing the idea out there that there may be methodologies within the points system to incentivise riders away from the "play it safe" strategy as the season progresses. Maybe there's not, and motorsports scoring has evolved to the point where there is absolutely no room for any improvement whatsoever. However, weighting the system so that the end of the season has more available points than the beginning would allow riders and teams to make some mistakes or suffer misfortune early on without necessarily killing their chances at a championship, i.e., it'd be OK to have a few problems at the start, but you'd better have your act together by the end of the year.

And then, what if you have this mistakes or misfortunes at the end of the season, when most points are awarded, after a perfect season?. Sorry to say that, but it is a dumb idea.

Award a race winner with more extra points, or less scoring positions (let's say only the first ten instead of 15 as now), whatever, but all races need to have the same point system.

I have to laugh at the idiots who think Jorge should have ridden faster than he felt was safe enough to finish once he had a moment and felt his tires going away.

These same idiots jumped all over Casey when he went for the win at Sachsenring and binned it when he was in contention for the 2012 Championship and had second place wrapped up!

Idiots, idiots, idiots.

They both rode a good race as far as im concerned. I would really like to see Dani win the champoinship, He really deserves it. He is still very young and the sposors are getting their moneys worth, so he will be on a top machine next year, so , if it doesnt go for him this year , then we will be rooting for him next year.
At the end of the day, the most consistant rider is Lorenzo. I think from memory, year 2000, Roberts won the champoinship and he only one a couple races that year. Consistancy will provail!
Good luck to them both, shame stoner is not in it as well.
