MotoGP » Dovi emerges on top in Crutchlow podium battle

'I knew Cal would be pushing very hard at the end of the race because a few times we have battled together like this and I have beaten him, so I knew he would not be giving up without a fight' - Andrea Dovizioso

Now why is it with the experience that Cal now has in MotoGP he still manages to lose a place at the start into the first corner? (this time to Spies) Compare that to Johnny Rea who in only his second MotoGP race was able to keep position even with a seven time world champion trying to make a move on the inside.

How long is it going to be before Cal can regularly (at the very least) keep position going into the first corner at the start of a race?

Todays race shows why Spies has lost his factory ride the Tech3 boys both kicked his ass today in a fight where Spies had the better equipment.

I'm glad you armchair critics know how to race, and I'm sure Cal will be lapping up your advice - not.

It's a start - you don't win the race on the first lap. He lost a place, and then got it back, it was only because he went onto the astro turf that he lost the position. Do you people actually watch the race?

And as for Petrohead - you made me laugh with your bollxxks on the Nicky Hayden thread about how he should have crashed instead of trying to save it. Of course he's going to try and save it rather than crash - he didn't know he'd go into that tyre wall.

Pleasure to watch Cal hassling Dovi all the way to the flag in only his second year in the premier class - pasting Spies in the process. Cant wait for more. Come on Calvin!!!11

It's easy to say that Dovi has 'beaten' Cal because he has more points and Cal has repeatedly been unable to pass him, but the fact is that Cal has been on Dovi's tail all season. That generally means that the guy behind is faster, but on identical machines it isn't all that easy to pass. The most important point for the future though is that Cal has been faster and Dovi has been holding him up.
