MotoGP » Rossi last to eighth after Rea tangle

“It's a shame about the mistake on the first lap. Rea couldn't see me and pushed me close to the curb, and I went straight to avoid him” – Valentino Rossi.

No, 21st to 8th is no longer impressive. He passed those mini-bikes easily. Face it, Cruthlow, Spies, Vale, and other rider on a prototype can cut through "the field" easily. The important numbers are the seconds behind the next prototype. I believe in this aspect he did ok. He didnt just quit and ride around, which speaks volumes.

Good ride to control the damage Rossi. I firmly believe that without the off-track venture, Rossi would have been up there fighting with, or ahead of Bautista. What were Crutchlow/Dovi/Spies' lap times compared to Bautista, Rea and Rossi?

Rossi did well...

1.Lapped consistently in the 1.51s
2.First lap incident cost him 13-14 seconds
3.Getting back to 8th cost another 8-10 seconds.
4.Second off cost another 2-3 seconds.
5.Honda & Yam tested here cost another 4-5 seconds.

44 - 27 = 17 seconds off. Equates to 6th place.

Now before you rip into this analysis, this logic has been used extensively by stoner fans in past races to deduce where rossi "really" finished.

Hayden would not have finished in front (per all year) and yes, stoner was not there but at the pace of pedro, he would have fallen off trying to keep up.

...as for the first lap run-off, if you watch the footage, Rossi was on that line for the last half of that back straight, when Rea apprpoached the turning pont and breaked, he moved onto Rossis line.

A racing incident (as rossi stated) and nothing to fuss about. Those who state rossi mucked up are not understanding what they are seeing.

Why don't half of you kids actually read what rossi said about the incident,. He didn't blame Rea, he didn't try to pass him on the outside, most of you just make up your own judgment as per usuall. It was a great fight back from last to 8th.
If it was any other rider you would praise them, but no, then you spill more garbage that he only had crt bikes to contend with.
Read the lap times, Ross it was running at a good pace to fight back, the bike is looking better and he looks more comfortable on it in and out of the corners,
