I don't really know enough about the business end of this, but if it somehow manages to elevate bike racing so more and more people watch both championships, then I hope it works out. I'll wait and see though

They're already owned as they said by the same company for one year so combining some administrative items shouldn't be an issue. The problem is if one of the two series isn't doing will finanically will they then merge the series into one. However, if they're serious about keeping both series separate and they stick to their words then it shouldn't result into a problem.
