I've been on a bike going through a gravel trap a few times and sometimes the bike just will not let you bail. If you look at Hayden's crash he had the same problem.

Feel sorry for Nicky and hope he comes back strong next season.

He said that he waited just before hitting the wall before he bailed, because he was afraid that if he bailed earlier, he would go head first into the wall. Makes sense to me. Could've been worse if he bailed earlier.

Ducati, do a Honda on this one:

Take a WSBK rider and stick him on the bike. There must be somebody who's just finished racing in Superbikes who is either under a Ducati contract or out of contract altogether?

Maybe Monsieur Guintoli could have a wildcard before(if?) he signs for Suzuki?

@Marji if he'd bailed low side and early there would have been much less chance of injury. It was a spur of the moment thing and with the benefit of hindsight I'm sure he'd agree that bailing quickly would have been better.
