MotoGP » Rossi needs 'couple of tenths' for podium thoughts

“At the moment, we're still missing a couple of tenths with our pace to think of the podium” – Valentino Rossi.

@ Scartledge
Your remarks about Vilas posts is bordering on racism and i think you should apologise to him . I have no problem understanding what he says . And furthermore he does it without insulting anyone . Unlike yourself . This site is open to all and it's up to those who have a problem with it to find an alternative .

If Rossi can have good results in the final races and have the bike heading in the right direction then he can hold up his head and say he tried his best and while he didn't get the results he'd hoped for at least he's leaving the bike in much better shape then when he got it.

Locks it's likely that Dovi will get a very similar bike to the one that's being developed now with obvious modifications that Rossi and team have suggested. But Dovi at the end of the season will provide his input and they'll obviously setup the bike to his liking. As the testing continues in the off season he'll get chance to input more but I think they're locked into the current frame and engine design with minor steps of improvements to be considered.

@Marc

I dont even bored with Stoner m8, i dont whant to dislike him.. But if people could understand my view that the problem really was Ducati bike not Rossi.. Even if Stoner was riding the Ducati him 2011 he will not have the 4 place that he had him 2010.. People whant to put Stoner like a king because he give Ducati one Wc and that also made him loock like one rider that is incredible he ride any bike even with one vespa he lap some riders riding a Motogp bike and is not true, Stoner is has aliean has Rossi has Lorenzo or Pedrosa, and Rossi prove that beating him 2008 and 2009 and then Lorenzo prove him 2010 and now him 2012 speaclyy because Stoner is now on Top machine he loss to is rivals, Not saying that is not good because Stoner is an aliean, But is not of the type of Rossi because he can t keep him the game for long time or for the suficentee time to make 7 WC him Motogp.. its the true

Thanks Locks you've made some good points.

I'll be the first to admit I'm not a Stoner fan but I respect his talent and his two championships I'll even admit he's done a much better job than Rossi on the Duc because his style lent itself to the way that bike needed to be riden. Rossi has had to first convince the team they were going in the wrong direction then convince them to build something more than one rider can ride. It's unfortunate he wasn't younger as I think he would have continued with Ducati to see if they could build a championship bike.

To continue from my above comment: Rossi has obviously decided to go back to a bike he knows he could be competitive on especially as the bases of that bike is what he helped develop. Back on to Rossi's experience with Ducati, while I'm a fan of his he does deserve some blame in not getting that bike and his style to gel faster and get better results. He's made some attempt at this but not hard enough at times. I'm sure his past injuries, his friends death and his age has all calculated into some of the problems and lack of results. I give him credit for jumping back on the Yam because if he doesn't get better results he'll have to admit time has caught up to him. But I think
