“We think that a championship derived from production bikes that is using 39 engines during one season, and in MotoGP you are using six - to be honest it's not very correct” - Carmelo Ezpeleta, Dorna.

The change to 800cc was not because the manufacturers wanted it, it was because A MANUFACTURER wanted it. Honda threatened to quit and cease supplies to all satellite & customer teams unless it happened. Suzuki, Kawasaki, Ducati & Yamaha were not in favour of a switch to 800s stating that they did not make or sell an 800cc bike so they believed the engine size was not relevant to their business but it was imposed on them.

I do find some degree of irony in the fact that the manufacturer who wanted 800s failed to win a constructors or riders title in the time they raced before a return to 1000s.

Dorna could help out the fans who dont live in europe by providing live streaming of the races (to start out with), if the market is good enough, maybe they can stream the FPs and Qualifying events as well, Maybe they can get Jack and James to provide commentary for them ... oh well, gavin and nick have become something stale of late, natural-sounds fp's and what not would be pretty nice though.

All Dorna should do is put WSBK on the web, after that they shouldnt touch it.

it's a good thing i got the past decade and a half of Grand Prix and Superbikes archived.

after Dorna drives SBK into the ground, a la "MotoGP", i'll just watch the races i have archived. Sundays on 2:00 pm I'll fire up the media player and watch an archived race... it'll be like the nightmare Dorna never happened !!!

re: "we need to set up both championships with their own spirit," he said."

hellooo...!!! mcflyyy...!!! (rappin' on noggin' like biff tannen) YOU already had that with 2-strokes but YOU made a conscious decision to give up that USP and copy(wholesale) off WSBK.

that's not honda's fault... that's not the MSMA's fault... that's YOUR fault...!!! and now we all have to suffer...?

i thought your mantra was "entertainment" and "the show comes first"...? well closed course competition always has been (and is still) EXEMPT from emmissions.

When Valentino tried the first 990 fourstroke RCV with limited electronics (this was 10 years ago), the very first thing he said to Burgess after getting off the bike was "It's not funny anymore."

Bring back the strokers !
