I like the idea of splitting the qualifying sessions, just not this way. This is giving advantage to the stronger teams by not letting them participate in QP1 and save engine life, while the 2 'lucky' ones who eventually progress to QP2 now need to run one more session.

yeah, right, how exciting...

unfortunately this is not Formula1 nor WSBK, here everybody knows who is going to the first eliminated (because it's another category), and who's going to be in the last group (because there's no competition...)

MotoGP should just be closed because of retardness and boredom

Also, accounting free practice times is 'nerd' idea.
It will do nothing to improve the show on TV. Folks will tune in when its time for QP1 and QP2 (but with the CRT so back down, most will be interested only in QP2), so we still will be watching a 'single' Qualifying session just that it will last only for 15 mins.

A wet/dry weekend is really going to complicate this style of qualifying. In F1 all participants from the final QP go straight to parc-ferme so have to qualify with race fuel loads, tyre choice and setup - I wonder if they considered that as another way to help CRTs.

So that means we'll see every prototype bike in the top 12 apart from a mixed up session due to weather.

This is done so the STUPID CRT's get more TV time! This is another bad move by Dorna, it all started withe the 800's, now the CRT's, now this to get them more TV exposure. I'm starting to get worried about WSBK.

I'm going to miss the hour long qualifying. I'm not a fan of this knockout stuff, I would have preferred them to adopt a superpole style qualifying!

We already have 2 tiered racing, why not 2 tiered qualifying too.

Why not let the test riders on the back of the grid to get data on starts and first laps so the grid looks full and sponsors get more TV coverage?

Maybe prototypes could pull banners of sponsors to slow them down and provide promotional support? That could hurt passing but that really isn'tuch of an issue these days is it?
