MotoGP » Seventh 'our potential' right now, says Rossi

'Unfortunately, this is our potential at the moment, and our pace still isn't at the same level as the others, especially in the early laps' - Valentino Rossi

Valentino had better really pull everything you have out of the closet for next year, becasue if Marquez starts beating you, he will do your head in...and the whole world will be watching. The reason I say this is because this year you have done nothing. At least you will have a good bike next year and they won't be asking you to do any developement, every one know you can' they will give you a good bike instead...good luck for 2013...

Armchair experts smoking from F1 exhaust there's a visual. Marquez won after dropping to 4th last on the grid. If he can ride a MotoGP bike, he'll add some much needed excitement to the racing.

Oh Mr Rossi what can you do, everyone fast on the track but why not you

You give it your best
But it's only 90% of the rest
We live in the past while unknown riders own your a$$

So we look to 2013
Where you ride the Yammy machine
Make the opening round something we have never seen

But if you fail and kill off our dream
Then in motogp land you'll be known as the greatest has been

@Fraud 27 + 19 = 46

U don't have a clue about motogp, about potentital of the bike. Hayden only 0.2 in front of wild carder, thats the potential of duc. And what about Stoner, Stoner is a small blink in motogp history and hes quiting, he's even dont match for a title sow what sow special about him. Cant wait to next year.

Rossi.... more over hyped and under deliver

Bring on 2013 as the last 2 years have been nothing but a joke and if your new Yammy is as fast as your mouth then a WC is yours to take - Unregistered

Let's wait and see what 2013 will bring: I, for one, am not sure the old Rossi will return. In fact, I am convinced that his better years were pre-2006 (and not a onform Stoner or Lorenzo could touch him and that claim is unprovable) and after 2009 and his shoulder injury he got down another step.

Who cares what I may think? No one, but I read several times that Rossi himself is unsure of how good he will be back at a Yamaha. Even so, let's wait and hope that 2013 will bring back the Rossi of old coz this championship clearly needs him...

Rossi is right in what he says. At any given track you would have to say that he won't beat any of the Works or Satellite Jap bikes, so to finish 7th he, or Nicky, will have to beat at least one of them. Also he is invariably the top Ducati finisher so I suppose he should know it's potential.
Speculation on whether Stoner, or anyone else, could put it higher is futile but I suppose we'll find out next year.
As regards to whether Rossi is a failure is open to question, he and his team haven't finished the job yet. Anyway the Ducati boss has held his hand up and admitted that they couldn't deliver the upgrades fast enough which is why they couldn't keep him for next year.
