MotoGP » Seventh 'our potential' right now, says Rossi

'Unfortunately, this is our potential at the moment, and our pace still isn't at the same level as the others, especially in the early laps' - Valentino Rossi

.. From then until now, 2012, the yamahas and hondas have improved consistently and overtaken the ducati in terms of best bike. Honda helped largely by their new clutch. The reduction of CC limit handed a huge advantage to ducati that they otherwise would not have had. Over time the rest improved and overtook them. The 2012 bike is a lot faster than the 2007 bike but while ducati might have improved 10 fold honda/yam have improved 50 fold.

While I absolutely detest the way stoner goes about his business, punching riders for being on his race track during quali, blaming volunteers for not helping him enough after he has binned it etc, You absolutely cannot slight his ability to put himself in the right place at the right time.

and all that said, the persistent trolling from stoner fans in rossi topics and rossi fans in stoner topics and lorenzo fans in pedrosa topics etc etc etc
is not only boring, but ignorant and a complete waste of internet space.

all of us should be thankful we have these guys to support, viva motogp

"Stoner has beaten Rossi more times than Rossi has beaten Stoner. You can juggle and twist the stats as much as you like, the result is the same. And lets not forget, more than half of those wins were for Ducati.Even more impressive!"

Its not playing with or twisting stats to say that half of stoners wins came in just 2 seaons (07 & 11) which points to clear bike advantage over the rest.

Remember, hes been in top class 7 years and taken half his wins in 2.

You can bag rossi all you like, the result is still the same. Rossi is more impressive!

Loris capirossi is nothing but a twit, no WC in the primer class and in 2007 was handed his a$$ by his team mate and now as safety officer he was Italian politics.

Who would care what he says about Rossi or Ducati, he was never a good rider for them anyway, but true fans of motogp would know that already.

Rossi doesn't need this fool to defend him

The Stoner - Rossi discussion has been raging here for years. It is pointless.
Fact of the matter is that Stoner retires and Rossi will continue racing for at least a couple of years. Proof that he loves racing and people love to see him race,
I hope he'll have a good time on the M1 and that he finds joy in competing again.
After that, World Superbikes maybe? That is an exciting prospect :-)

@ Dave.."Remember, hes been in top class 7 years and taken half his wins in 2."

I've made that point on more than one occasion, a point that is ignored by some. The fact is that, in the years that Rossi & Stoner have been on the same track, Casey has had two very successful years and Rossi has had two very unsuccessful years. That fact is bound to cloud the issue on who is the best rider.

To my mind Casey is better at riding a Ducati, Rossi is a better racer. If Rossi had the 'win or bin' mentality, or if Casey didn't, there would be a whole new argument.

Sorry but rossi has had his day just like the whole motogp championship. It suppose to be the main event, More like a support race compared to the moto2 and moto3.

Of Rossi's 13 seasons in the premier class and his 79 wins (most impressive) in that class, 59 of those victories were won having the best bike on the grid/best tires etc etc (you know, the same things people bag on Stoner about). A majority of Rossi's victories came from seasons 2001 to 2005.

Stoner has posted his results against what I consider some of the toughest competition in history, which in my mind is more impressive.

If the 2007 Ducati was the best bike as some of you like to lay claim, why wasn't it posting scoring results like the 2011 Honda? Why was the closest finisher to Stoner on another Ducati all the way down in 7th, behind TWO Suzuki's? Oh how logic must hurt some people.
