They did the right thing stopping the race.
Ridden in the wet? Have you done it at 280+ Kph?
Yes, Lorenzo was out of tyres, and nearly came off a few times. Stoner would have caught and passed Lorenzo, but if he came off in the process, that would be the end of his season. If Lorenzo came off, that could be his championship. Pedrosa has come off in the wet often enough, and other riders were going down everywhere.

That's not racing, it's carnage.

When Lorenzo put his hand up, he was 3.3 seconds ahead, and there were 6 laps to go. Stoner was taking just under 2 seconds a lap out of Lorenzo by then.

But that's irrelevant, because it simply wasn't safe to keep the race going. As it is, it probably won't make any difference to the championship.

@David Martin

That's a pathetic comment. You must be a very sad case. Maybe you missed the race at this venue last year?
None of the riders complained that the race was ended. And they're the ones taking the risks.

Is NSW the only poster who actually rides a motorcycle outside his own head on here? I've never raced in monsoon-type rain, but I was long-distance motorcycle courier for 350,000 miles or more, and I know what standing water and really thick rain mean. They mean stop. I'm still alive and riding, which upsets the trolls and reptiles on here but, far more importantly, so are all our heroes and villains, fit for another day of entertaining the armchair warriors.

"But that's irrelevant, because it simply wasn't safe to keep the race going. As it is, it probably won't make any difference to the championship."

What the most stupidest comment I've ever read in my life.

Dude, Stoner need no more than 2 lap (the requirement) to passed Jorge, hell even a lap is enough!

If that's the way you think, you'll never win anything, you giving up before the war over. Why? as Nakamoto san say: You'll never know what could happen in THE ******* FUTURE kid!

Poor Danny

I really hope Dani wins the championship this year! Why did the organisers listen to Lorenzo? He was the only rider puting his hand up.

The race was about to get interesting, Stoner was catching Lorenzo & Rossi was catching Hayden after he passed Bautista.

I've seen races run in worse conditions than that i.e. Jerez 2004 & Donington 2005.

the worst part about standing water is it can cause you to hydroplane (like being on ice). If you know how to control the throttle, know where the standing water is and leave enough room to maneuver properly its not as big a problem. From what I saw standing water was not an issue, as much as visibility would have been more of an issue.

For Jorge it was his rear tire selection, Casey Stoner had no issues gauging his turn in and around the last corner, and you know what, ...

Jorge did not have any problems squirting out of the last turn to beat Casey out of the last turn, despite almost crashing, ...

which leads me to believe Jorge's tires were not that far off, he was just having a panic attack.

Its was about getting the race the required distance to award full points, so Dani did really well, what should acknowledged the race was dangerous two laps
before the red flag, when all these riders fell off, Strewth !!, a lot of crazy folk post on CRASH

I see HRC is being victimized by some.

For the record..."HRC is responsible for all the stupid rules that have ruined Motogp as is today"

The mistake Dorna made was to let them dictate such rules. The Flaminis gave them the finger and showed them the door and look how WSBK became the most entertaining of the 2 by a million miles.

Also fans whining about Dorna wishing Lorenzo wins the title must look at how many points Lorenzo has in the bag. Didn't Biaggi win by half a point?

What makes you think Pedrosa winning the rest of the races and Stoner finishing second is going to accomplish? Did you guys failed math in school?
