MotoGP » Lucky escape for Lorenzo

“In the last lap I almost crashed. I have been very, very lucky because one '0' here would mean the championship was much more difficult” – Jorge Lorenzo.

This wasn't a race, this was just an exercise on keeping upright and Jorge gave you a masterclass, what a save!
All Dani wanted was to have him fall off and he spent most of the race trying to force the issue, some sportsman! and when he didn't get his way he hoped Casey might lend him a hand, - not today Jose!
Most right thinking people believe it was right to stop the race including our favourite italian, Jorge just did what all the other riders were thinking. There had been enough carnage this afternoon, to carry on would only have satisfied the bloodlust of some questionable fans.
I say, well done Lorenzo, job done, title's in the bag and for a bonus Casey's still third and he got a podium. Happy Days

"@rossiput

Why wouldn't Lorenzo consider HIS own safety? Every racer should! Do you think they all ride high on drugs?"

get the FACT rogerio, who the hell riders you're talking about? Stoner? No his not! Dani? is even mad when the race stopped!

YOU AIN'T PRO! stoner say he's confident, so you say he should quit?

Who?
Who?

is it the leather outfits that attract all the drama queens as fans of this sport?

Jorge has to manage a points lead, thats it. Stoner passing him would have meant nothing. Not one rider questioned or complained with the decision of race direction.

99 will not race Pedrosa or Stoner because he doesn't have to. There is zero benefit to taking risks for him. Most of you seem to forget that when the pressure has been on to perform NO ONE has been better than Jorge this year. He has taken the fight to the Honda's whenever he needed to and came out on top most times. This is why he has a points lead to manage.

Its the same maturity he showed in 2010 before he sewed up the title and then went ahead and broke the season point total record.

Anyone could have crashed in those conditions including Dani, many did...

@Jelly

I don't see what Stoner said wrong in the interview. Lorenzo chewed up his soft tyre early, his pace was dropping drastically and had the race been run to its actual distance there is a big chance Lorenzo would've crashed (since every prototype rider who used the soft rear crashed) or finish way beyond where he actually finished.

I can see where lot of fans are coming from, Lorenzo is playing it safe (as he's entitled to) but you should leave people's job to themselves and not throw a fit during a race asking it to be stopped so you can have your Championship Points. Weather conditions were same for everyone, and every rider was concentrating on doing their job. Only Lorenzo had to put his hand up time and time again because he knew he was screwed as he had finished up his tyres.

Max is absolutely right
Even if the rain would have stopped, Lorenzo would
NOT have finished the race anywhere near the podium.
His tires were TOTALLY shot. His tire choice - didn't
see the leader or anybody else on hard rears throw up their hands! Dorna saved his ass!!!

I've raced in rain like that and I can tell you, it's tough (had DOTs on not rains)!!! Every corner is a hope and a prayer that the bike sticks and doesn't tuck the front or spin the rear. That said, we didn't raise a hand just because the tires werent holding or because it rained harder. Lorenzo only was doing what was in his best interest. DORNA totally screwed up by stopping the race two laps short of a technically complete race. Just my opinion btw.

One third of the grid crashed out due to the conditions and every rider had their moments. Of the riders that crashed out it was pretty even between hard and soft tires.

I would rather have teh championship decided by all contenders being able to contest it to the end as opposed to weather. I would rather have race direction call a race for safety reasons (a decision every rider agreed with) before a rider is seriously injured rather than after.

On to PI where it will probably be Stoner, Dani, Jorge since that is all Jorge has to do. The questions are how hard will Dani push to try to get in front of Stoner and how fit will Stoner be?

So unfair, it was his decision to choose the soft, and he should have suffered the consequences of that decision. This sucks one rider complaining and it gets stopped.

All i hope for is honda to kick you loser yamahas next year, and for Lorenzo to never win another championship.

You suck cry baby

Lorenzo is still better than Pedrosa. Stats don't lie.

Pedrosa is on the best bike atm. But when Dorna implements the standard ECU you'll hear a lot of whining from HRC because even the CRTs are gonna be at the front.
