Don't count your chickens neversaynever.
If he does no good at the Island, he won't go to the final race. Not passionate or hungry enough. Will he do it for his fans? Does not have many in Europe, so that will not be motivation to go. No, I think Phillip Island will be it if he does not win.

I remember a race in England (Silverstone I think) when it was pouring rain and Bayliss slid off the track on his **** twice. He got back on each time and was passing guys on the outside going through corners. He finished fifth and said later that he wished it had been a bit longer so he might have had a shot at the podium. He didn't put his hand up but knuckled down and raced. Oh and yeah that was on a Ducati :)

Stoner was a reluctant starter but when it counted he showed the gutsiness of guys like Bayliss and Doohan.

Stoner Class act??? then where are 125cc, 250cc, 500cc titles he won ?? How long it took him to win ? and on the best bike !!! "

He was in other classes and didn't come through 125 & 250 which is not a prerequisite to being recognised as having talent.
Dani has been entertained at HRC because of the Repsol cash as he has yet to win a MotoGP world title. Hayden did and because he didn't get on the with the 800 built for Dani he got the boot. So why hasn't Dani got the boot having not won a MotoGP c'ship. Stoner came to HRC and won the title in his 1st year on Dani's bike so do you not think he's not a class act. Plenty of WSBK greats came to 500's and achieved nothing but it doesn't mean theyre not greats.

Going to be a bit pointless next year (for me at least)knowing the best racer out there is not going to be in it.
Pedrosa and Dovi proved that point when they had to up their game by a second when Stoner went to Honda.

Pedrosa has learnt a lot from Stoner you can see that in his riding style now.

Hopefully Stoner will come back the year after next, if not I could see him possibly being employed by Honda as an adviser to Marc Marquez who has a lot in common with Stoners riding style.

Can,t believe the crap some post on here what a rider says I DON,T CARE WHAT HE SAYS end of as long as he got the balls to ride one of these bikes to the limit and stoner is one of these special ones who can. He can say whatever he likes i don,t care i just want to see the best race and to anyone who says they are happy to see him go then you do not love moto gp at all . I want rossi back on a yamaha as he can,t ride the duc but has he lost his ability to race no i don,t think so but i also think dani and lorenzo have grown up a lot this year and will be harder next year .And i think that stoner being in the honda team has made dani a better rider

It never ceases to amaze me when Stoner has to give a statement, the ranters on here jump in firing blanks.Like if they know what it's like to race at that level with a broken leg, riding a 260hp bike in monsoon conditions, not being able to see brake markers, and oh yeah...beating guys that are fully fit,and crashing all around you.Any one with sense know that to have surgery weeks ago on a broken leg, what would happen if you fall on that leg, because the risks would be greater in a wet race.Good riding by Dani and Lorenzo. What Stoner say's after the race or before the race, does'nt matter..it's what he did IN the race that counts. They have a few riders running out of EXCUSES i dare to mention.

At least there's one good thing emanating from Casey's impending retirement, it'll put Valentino one place closer to the podium!! and who knows, if Cal keeps falling off it'll put him two places closer!!
Sorry, couldn't resist.
