As bad as the duck was when Stoner was riding in 09 and 10,i don't think he was ever that slow in pratice(2 seconds),not even 1 second. But then again,he was winning races too,and pole positions.I guess it would be a humbling experience for a rider who is many times a champion,to have to eat crow for 2 years, being shown up week in week out,by a bony as# kid from the bush,on prison island.Despite what the NURSE'S fans say about him,g.p anaylists for years to come will be talking about him, along with serious race fans.

@ If Casey Stoner is so dominant and so fast, can someone please explain why he hasn't been world champion every year since 2007

If Rossi is the GOAT can you explain why he can't put in ONE SINGLE FAST LAP to put him on the front row of the starting grid.......for two years?

See how that works?

Makes your attempt at an analogy pretty weak.

The carbon fibre Ducati had no frame feel, no FE feel, and let go at inopportune times. The trellis frame had handling issues. They had a great motor, limited electronics and some geometry issues. But why listen to a "mediocre" rider with no charisma?
You need proven performer. One with charisma. A proven "bike developer".

Replacing Stoner at Ducati with Rossi was like replacing the green frame 750 SS with the 860 GT.

Rossi was as good for Ducati as Belusconi was for Italy. Their charisma greatly exceeded their ability.

In two years, Rossi was paid about the same or more than Stoner, Capirossi and Bayliss combined for 11 years & one wildcard ride.
For that amount, you'd expect some results. The others? 31 victories and a World Title. Stoner delivered a dream. If Rossi's the "goat", then Stoner must be an epic bike god.

Stoner's a second a lap better than next best, riding with a shot ankle. I agree. Years to come.

Has anyone noticed that max biaggi was able to lap 1.31.5@philip island first race of year, makes a mockery of the current CRT bikes! As I'm sure by the end of season his Aprilla would be even quicker? Can someone explain to me why the crts can't match biaggi&checa? Debate pls.
