I didn't think they even did testing on this sort of thing, as it seems a lot of riders ride on pain killer injections which I assume to be opiates, which can be considered a performance enhancing drug to beat pain...

I had to go look it up.

"Methylhexaneamine is a nasal decongestant, but it's also considered a stimulant. It is considered as a vasoconstrictor, increasing heart rate and blood pressure and sending more blood to the areas of the body that need it.

But more recently, the compound has become a popular dietary supplement and is found in strength-conditioning and powder drinks, which help with training.

The other problem with methylhexaneamine is that it isn't always identified on the product."

Not sure why it's banned?

It's a nasal decongestant that is also considered a stimulant, therefore, banned by many sporting sanctioning bodies. A lot of riders caught colds that weekend, because of all the rain. I guess West was unlucky to get a decongestant that had that stuff in it. Others who also had the flu were lucky not to get tested, I guess.

It may be all the Monster they have to drink ,lol.
I heard about this, on Stoner's last race with the injured ankle the comentators mentioned he had to ride in pain cause painkillers would test positive for the doping tests.

Took a long time to test the sample, or process the results then.

Does sound like a simple case of buying the wrong cold rememdy.

Although with the medical facilities they have at every European round you would have thought it would have been easy to get a LEGAL one.

@Sukodo..do you not remember Anthony Gobert being booted from the 500cc Suzuki team in the late 90's...for marijuana ?
Personally I think this decongestant ban is a joke whilst the fact remains the riders need to refer to a 'doping list' just to buy common off-the-shelf drugs..pathetic !!
