Time to revisit this "Ducati was by far the fastest in 2007" rubbish. These stats are based on the average 5 top speeds for each rider in the race.
2007. Losail. Only 4th fastest top but came 1st.
2007. Jerez. Fastest by 2.1 KMH but came 5th.
2007. Instabul. Gastest by 0.2 KHM and won. 2nd fastest Caparossi 8 seconds behind in 3rd.
2007. Shanghai. Gastest by 0.1 KMH and came 1st. 2nd fastest came 9th, 28 seconds behind.
2007. Le Mans. Only 8th fastest but came 2nd.
2007. Mugello. 2nd fastest but came 4th.
2007. Cataluya. 4th fastest but came 1st.
2007. Donington. 10th fastest but came 1st.
2007. Assen. Fastest by 2.8KMH but came 2nd.
2007. Sachenring. Fastest by 0.5KMH but came 5th.
2007. Leguna Seca. 3rd fastest but comes 1st.
2007. Brno. Fastest by 0.1 KMH and wins. 2nd fastest comes in 6th over 19 seconds behind.
2007. Misano. Fastest by 0.3KMH and wins.
2007. Estoril. Fastest by 2.8KMH and comes 3rd.
2007. Montagi. Only 11thth fastest but comes 6th.
2007. Phillip Island. 2nd fastes

2007. Phillip Island. Casey 2nd fastes by 0.7KMH. Beat Danni by over 11 seconds.
2007. Sepang. Casey fastest by 2.3KMH. Beat 2nd fastest by 3.7 seconds.
2007. Valencia. Casey 4th fastest but finishes 2nd.

As I have said before. Being the fastest down a straight is also a skill that Stoner has always had. In 2006 his satellite Honda was consistently faster than the works bikes. Losail, Shanghai, Mugello, Catalunya, Assen Brno, Phillip Island and Valencia he was in the top 4 fastest. Three times he was the fastest. Then you get races like Leguna Seca where he is 14th fastest and comes 3rd. Instanbul where he is 6th fastest and comes 2nd. Myth destroyed!

As for Casey's comments about Frosty in the V8's. He is entitled to his opinion and the infantile way that Frosty responded is an embarrassment to the sport. It was an illegal pass by Frosty and Stoner was not the only one to make a similar comment. I have lost all respect for Frosty, not Stoner.

@ wyliecoyote
Speed isn't just about top speed it also encapsulates acceleration, but hey we could all pick and choose what information to use to achieve the outcome that suits us best.

At the start of this season the Ducatis were regularly the top 4 bikes in top speed, by some margin. Guess what. Rossi still couldn't win on it. In fact he demanded Ducati turn the engine down a couple of notches cos he couldn't "tame the lion under the fairing". Seems the top speed "advantage" Rossi's fans always insisted Ducat had was a poisoned chalice, just as every other Dicati rider bar Stoner has demonstrated time and time again for 6 years,

So it is acceleration that was the advantage now? I haven't seen one person mention that in all the comments made about his article!! Its all how much faster the Ducati was. I have watched the 2007 races several times and Casey passes others under brakes and with superior mid corner speed on just as many occasions as on the straights. When he does pass on a straight more often than not it was slip streaming. People will just not admit that skill was the determining factor of his 2007 championship.

@ Dave

"Like you said, Rossi will be remembered as the greatest while stoner will be brought up once in a while by someone who watched him race."

Actually Dave, even amongst multi world champs the are guys who's talents stood out enough that they are remembered beyond what their numbers added up to. Many still regard Spencer as the most talented and fastest rider they ever saw, and Hailwood is still the GOAT according to most people who saw him race, despite the fact his numbers are nowhere near what Rossi's are. Similarly Agostini is usually overlooked in conversations about the GOAT, despite his incomparable statistics. This is why GOAT statements are so problematic, Rossi was once considered the GOAT, until some Aussie kid popped up on a bike nobody else could ride and started beating him regularly. That's why recently it's been Stoners name being compared to Fast Freddie and Mike the Bike, especially since Rossi has proven himself incapable riding like Stoner can. He's even said
