2007 Stoner gets to Ducati, wins Champioship , bike had been in development for a while by other riders, takes lead as developer rider, bike goes on a steady backwards spiral, 2011 Stoner gets to Honda, wins championship on bike developed by Pedrosa, Pedrosa is taken out by Super Sic, sustain broken clavicle, Pedrosa champioship hopes are ended, 2012 Stoner takes lead as develoment rider, things are not working, reports of chatter are being thrown around the paddock, Honda brings out new 2013 RC213V, Stoner still not satisfied, Pedrosa takes new bike bocomes championship contender, stoner injures ankle, out for a couple of races, Stoner retires. Anyone notice a pattern here

@ The truth hurts.

"Stoner wins 23 races on the Ducati.
"Hands race winning Ducati to Rossi."
"Rossi wins 0 races on it in 2 whole years."

The bike was a winner in 2010 but it was NOT a winner after it. Not because it was worst but because Honda/Yamaha made a huge leap forward and outdeveloped Ducati by a LOT. Especially HRC. You Rossi haters always forget that.

For sure Stoner was the best rider on the Duke but pls stop this Rossi was not able to win with a winner bike cause it is utter bullshit!

@The Joker.
07 stoner hops on the duke that was being developed by other riders and bridgestone and blitzes the field.
then the tyres development is dragged over to valintino rossi's yamaha and the duke makes a steady decline and the yamaha with valentino rossi reclaim the glory.
2011 he goes to honda and blitzes the field , then the bike makes a steady recline as the tyres once again are changed after pre season testing showed he was going to blitz again in 2012.
see the familiar pattern?
dorna is a business , they want to make money , if the season is over before it even starts then the money will trickle away.
its not rocket science .

You might have an argument if it were not for the exact same people winning week in and week out.

The only thing that has changed is Rossi and Stoner. Everything else is the same. Tech 3 and satelite hondas were picking up the scraps on the podium while Stoner was on the Ducati and Rossi was on the Yamaha.

It's just another snippet in the epic novel of excuses the brigade makes up for Rossi's failure at Ducati.

@Dacron

Pedrosa was on the same Honda as Stoner this year and he was a contender through till the penultimate race, he messed up under the pressure, but I have no doubt he had the pace to come 2nd in that race.

I've respect for Stoner and his speed, but I want it in perspective... On the Ducati his style was perfect for it and he did incredible things. (More so when they had the tailored Bridgestones) He moves to Honda and he is very fast (as expected) but the key point is he's not unbeatably fast, he's just Alien fast... If the Ducati holds you back by 2s a lap (A la Rossi) then why is stoner not 2 seconds faster at every race now he's on the Honda?
IMO It's because while he's incredibly fast, when put on a dare I say a 'Conventional' bike he's still around the same pace... I.e. fast, but not unbeatable as this year has shown.

@ Hahahaha.
your missing the all important point bro , the tyres of today are not the same as the tyres of yesterday , which is why you don't see why he is faster by 2 seconds on the honda.
today's tyres while being more grippy are also less durable and need to be managed or they will not last half the race , we have seen stoner leading a lot of races by a long shot these last couple years only to have the tyres die out on him and finish 3rd or 2nd.
the tyres during his early ducati years were able to withstand the punishment he put on them and he could ride as fast as he wanted all race long.
they used qualifying rubber then too which is why a lot of his 07/08 times still stand today despite the lift to 1000cc.

The last 2 seasons have been a disaster, no other way to put it!!
Rossi didnt deliver for whatever reason, self believe, injury hampering confidence, bike not developed as requested...etc, etc.

2013 is a clean sheet.

Im confident he will be close to Lorenzo, probably won't beat him in the title chase but will give him some serious competition.

He has more experience than most, and you can't beat that haha

People seem to forget that Stoner had trouble with his last season with the ducati and that he did not have a good word to say about them after he left. Only Rossi team and Ducati know the full story.

I still think that the marco accident affected him as well. We shall see what happens on the Yamaha.

Gawd MGP really needs to get its head out of rossi's ...

Seriously was this even newsworthy? Who cares, we get it... it is the end of a terrible 2 yrs but imo we should be more focused on Stoner's last race.

Want to know why he is leaving, because rossi has had more press for his lack of success than Stoner has had for all of his.
