@Dave Smithers

You can't be serious, not close to Stoner's level???

lol, Rossi won two back to back titles at Honda and yamaha, Neither of Lorenzo and Stoner could do that. Casey's performance after 2007 declined and I am pretty sure by 2011 would be its worst form, forget 2012!! If only Rossi wins one race next year he'll prove that even at 34 with two backward years he still has it. Like him or not, he is oen of the greatest racers of all times, something that Stoner is not!!

Rossi can only do so much. He can't be at the factory making the parts himself, and it's known fact that Ducati are incredibly slow at development. Even Casey would attest to this.

Just look at the last test. Ducati shows up with some bolt-ons and Honda shows up with a new bike! THAT'S commitment to racing!

Your rider can only sit in the saddle for so long gathering data. At some point, you have to build something out of this, and Ducati just can't/won't do it.

The funny thing is the sheep blamed Casey for this. But in Rossi's case it's Ducati's fault.

So which is it?

@CRT,

Believe whatever you want. I never thought CS was at fault for development, but if that's what others think, that's there opinion. I'm just stating what is quite obvious. Place blame on whoever you want.

Slower than who? Stoner? 2010 and 2011 are the only seasons during which a somewhat fair comparison can be made: both on 800cc Ducs. Apparently, there are 10 races from that year which presented comparable scenarios for both riders. Of those 10, Rossi had a best lap faster than Stoner 6 times. 9 out of 10 times, Rossi finished race distance faster than Stoner (who fell 4 times, but hey, if you don't finish the race you can't win). But, hey, let's forget about that stuff altogether.

It's funny how Stoner fans point out Stoner's abilities on the Ducati to diminish Rossi's titles. But, when you only compare their performances on the D16, they're not that far off. What's getting far off is the spread to the Hondas and Yamahas.
