MotoGP » Rossi: 'Emotional' Sunday, 'can’t wait' for Tuesday

"It will be very, very interesting on Tuesday to try to understand which level I can achieve with the M1 and what feeling after two difficult seasons... I can't wait" - Valentino Rossi.

Surely riding the Yamaha is going to be like a revelation for Rossi, just getting the 'front end feeling' back will no doubt make him forget his Duc problems pretty quickly. Obviously on past performance the Japanese manufacturers make a bike that works for him and Moto gp needs some competition at the front. Even the most committed fans have to admit there has not been much by the way of interesting racing lately.

Here we go. Doohan only won because he had a far superior bike? There were up to 11 other NSR500 on the grid each race. There was next to no difference between the works bikes and the satellite. The Yamaha was equally as good. I hate it when people try and diminish the achievements of other riders and then praise Rossi and blame the last two years on Ducati. Ducati can't wait for Tuesday either. They will finally have some new riders willing to push the bike and not totter around complaining. For MotoGP's sake I hope Rossi can ride the M1.

re: "Definitely looking forward to those GP12 vs. M1 comments from him"

don't hold your breath. such comments aren't coming. he's not going to bad mouth his country, his people, or any of it's institutions after the fact. watch this space.

Thanks for the sanity @wylie

I will always admire Rossi's achievements and look forward to him being competitive next year.

But the fact remains that neither he, nor Doohan, nor Hailwood, nor Agostini could win a title on a bike vitually no one else could win on.

The closest I can think of is Lawson going to the Honda that was spitting Gardner and Doohan in to the scenery and winning in '89.

Good luck Vale, you'll have the media and Caramel Expletive in your corner, but my money is still on Jorge

...on duc for 2 years wich isnt very user friendly, and the question is what is the damage? ...

Nothing damaged by Duc, the truth is he damaged the duc. His damage is his mentality since the "great wall of Yam"

re: "There were up to 11 other NSR500 on the grid each race. There was next to no difference between the works bikes and the satellite."

incorrect, the disparity between the factory and the satellite kit was FAAARRR greater back then. pons west honda's were always at least a year behind. that was honda's control strategy and had to be since the desire to develop had long since stalled. observe my choice of words... i said "desire", not ability. HRC boffins to their credit have consistently shown decade after decade (after decade), they can advance ANYTHING they damn well please.
