'The guy talks like he's a legend.' fraud35

I suppose you're referring to arrogant and boastful statements like this -

“Fifth's nothing to shout about particularly, but it's better than finishing seventh, so hopefully we can have a good result on Sunday.”

It MAY be last chance for Cal to get a fifth in motogp, next year will be the two factory Yamahas and two factory Hondas in the top 4 then MAYBE Cal but I think Bradel will step it up next year and Divo may surprise everyone on the duke if not...at least Divo will be consistant and be up there around 4ths and 5ths.

Ah, Mr Crutchlow...
You are indeed a very fast and very brave rider, but...
..you'll never be the peoples champion.

If he read this it wouldn't bother him one little bit as he honestly doesn't care about people like us, and that's the problem.
Some people don't like Rossi or Lorenzo but they acknowledge the fans and share their victories with us.

I had two podiums club racing this year and felt like a World Champion.
Cal just seems to be permanently grumpy, and whilst some may say he's humble or restrained, it'd be nice to see a friendly, human side.

Cal permanently grumpy? I'm guessing you don't watch his interviews with Matt Roberts or follow him on twitter? Cal very much does care about his fans and he's one of the most humble riders out there.

No, I don't follow him anymore.
He talked himeself in an out of the Ducati ride, and in doing so nearly talked himself out of a Yamaha ride.

I wanted to be a fan (why wouldn't I?) but he just comes across as a miserable sod.
Maybe it's a dry sense of humour?

I will admit I no longer watch the BBC coverage, though.

Well, maybe CC doesn't want or need to be the "peoples champion" what ever that phrase means. He doesn't need to blow smoke up your a$$, and he's more than happy out there racing rather than people pleasing...

"He talked himeself in an out of the Ducati ride"

It astonishes me that some people still buy into that internet myth, which has got nothing at all to do with reality. Ducati certainly didn't choose its 2013 riders based on what anybody said or didn't say on the internet or in a newspaper.

Basically Crutchlow was approached as a team mate for Rossi, when it was assumed by Ducati that VR would be staying. Once they got wind that he was leaving, they hurriedly re-secured Hayden (whose contract had not been renewed), and looked for an ideal (preferably Italian) development rider to replace Rossi. Dovi was simply the more sensible choice given his experience, nationality, and results this year.

Ducati's final line up was decided on the grounds of practicality and merit rather than anything else. No more to it than that.
