Riders come and go but Stoner's retirement is a great loss to MotoGP and it's been a privilege to have seen both him and Spencer in their prime, both of whom raised the bar in their respective eras. I'm not a fan of their either one's personality, but the reason I watch is because it's a racing, not a personality, contest.

Regarding Stoner's comments in the post-qualifying interview, obviously he was completely wrong when he said the track is worse and bumpier than before, and as for having too much TC, he recently said that a rider needs to overcome his own ego/pride and adapt to how a bike needs to be ridden rather than how the rider wants to ride it. It's a shame that comments of this kind have detracted from the popularity of one of greatest talents the sport has seen.

Stunning lap by Dani for sure. George, sublime as ever. Casey did what he does best,100 to 110% and came up short and so what ?
What about those top speeds. Hector hits 327 on a 18 month old bike and #46 sedately wrings 319 out of HIS bike..
I thought Stoner was the bloke to be playing safe prior to retirement, not Rossi.:)

Nice to see Stoner getting his ass kicked by his team mate. For all his **** talk about loving to return once the series moves to 750cc 2strokes:

for god's sake, win a 1000cc championship first. First time you moved to 990s, you've been in the gravel trap just abt every time. Didn't fare too better next time either. Yeah, we agree - you've been an 800cc wonder, and that's all you'll ever be remembered as.

btw - no denying Stoner's talent, and kudos to Dani for being the first team mate in many years to kick Stoner's butt big time.

@ Petrolbonce. Looks like it weatherise. Who cares anyway ? It may make for a good finale to the Stoner era of GP racing. And old Carmello had a houseload of sh.t to complain about re PI's weather some time back.

Did Casey say the track was worse? No, he said there were more bumps than expected after the resurface. I wish the Stoner bashers would actually read what is said rather than make up fairy stories. Did he say he would have beat Pedrosa's time? No, he hinted, like 99% of the riders, that he would have found a better setup with more time. Casey has been 1st or 2nd at this track in 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011. So when he says he could have gone faster with more setup time I believe him. But I doubt anybody would have beat Pedrosa for pole.

Crash is surely lying or at the least misleading readers with such a title. How come such an unworthy factory rider rocket to a pole when he has as teammate the most talented rider ever and forever? Surely Stoner was so fast that the stopwatches couldn't even follow his pace.

Oh wait! That's right - the only reference for judging talent is how fast you can ride at P.I. and how well do you tackle a Ducati...
