Jiri talk about yaer 2001, when Rossi won first 500cc title with nastro azzurro team. Repsol Honda team was Alex Criville and Tohru Ukawa. Thats a right fact, isn't?

Though a Stoner fan, have to say I'm disappointed at his decision to retire. The number of competitive bikes is wafer thin at this moment and the only hope fans are holding on to is to see better battles at the front because the midfield sadly looks pretty deserted. Would've been a cracker of a season ahead with Dani, Marc and Stoner on Honda and Lorenzo, Rossi on the Yamaha. MotoGP needs to add quality at the moment and can't afford any more losses.

@Dave
2 yrs on the factory Duc and how many wins?like I said before on the best bike in the paddock he is a good rider on an ordinary bike a very ordinary rider and next year will prove it.yes he won titles but will always be remembered as the guy who could not ride the factory Duc,but we will always remember the guy from Aus who won a WC on it.

I cannot believe this comparison about lap times, Marquez= 125 world champion, moto2 world champion, don't forget this boy is only 19 and rides like its just a scoot through the local park. Marcs first ride on a motogp bike and gets 1 second to Pedrosa who is in the best form of his racing career. Pedrosa and Marquez will own the Yamaha boys next year... just wait and see, afterall how many riders do you see start from the back of the field and still win by a mile? Marquez will easily fill the boots of Stoner...and some! Honda's best choice of teamates ever!

@Aussie,

Do you remember Geoff Duke or Leslie Graham? No...

Geoff was the only guy to win a WC on a Norton (1951) while Leslie was the only guy to win a WC on a AJS (1949).

Two points here...

1.these guys arent considered the greatest because they were the only rider to win a WC on a particular make.

2.in another 50 years (probably a lot less) you can add stoner to point 1 while rossi will still be used as the bench mark for measuring motorcycle racing greatness.

If one title 5 years ago mean that Stoner is super racer, ok then i must agree he's greatest of all times. Greater than Agostini, than Rossi, Haylwood, Lawson and never no one will be greater than him, until somebody win 2 titles with Duc. Stoner fans ur sow miserables....

I find it funny that Rossi can use the excuse of being on the Ducati for not doing jack squat, but somehow Stoner should have won 15 championships on it.

How does that work exactly?

Calling Stoner the GOAT is about as ignorant as it gets. Calling Rossi GOAT is not too far behind.

A GOAT debate is pointless. The rules have changed far too many times. Saying who is the best in a certain era is easy. But all time? Give it a rest already.
