mrfill, what is the use of putting all your money on a bloke that may stay one or two more years. There's only so much showboating and fancy dressups that racing fans will put up with if he can't be racing for the no.1 spot week in week out.
Ezpeleta has dropped the ball by failing to promote the future of the sport, but sure it's a master stroke... for Carmellos retirement fund that is!

After the complete bagging he has given Ducati over the last two years his only redemption will be to finish the season in front of the best Ducati. On January the 1st he is free to speak his mind and I assume we will get another round of, "They dinna giva me the bika I asked for!". Of course if a Ducati does well it will be because Rossi developed it. I see some people on here are claiming the performance of the current M1 is due to Rossi's excellent development abilities when he was last with the team. These same people will claim that the bike is built around Lorenzo if No 46 doesn't do so well. I think Yamaha should have given the ride to a star of the future, not a fading and blemished star from the past.

Let's have a look at the flawed arguments being posted on here. “same bike as he won on before” No it isn't. The 2013 M1 will be different from last years, and the previous two years. It is now 1000cc, the tyres are totally different following 2011's tragic events, and the chassis will have been developed to Jorge's preferences.
“If he doesn't win he's not the GOAT.” Just two words. Mohammed Ali.
Crash's question was “What will be a considered a success for Valentino Rossi” A clever and provocative question. Considered by who? Yam will consider it a success if he attracts a big Sponsor. Dorna will consider it a success if he brings the crowds. The TV companies will consider it a success if he keeps viewing figures up and advertising rolling in. Jerry Burgess will consider it a success when he beats the Ducatis. And I reckon VR will consider it a success if he can simply end the season happy.
And WE can consider it a success if it helps to keep MotoGP on our TVs.

Simple, because he is a massive draw. Look at any race crowd and see what is the predominant colour - yellow. Like it or not, he is the golden goose and until another comes along, you don't kill it.
As for the future, the introduction of moto2 and moto3 has brought good, close racing back and the reduced costs has enabled riders to compete where before it was too expensive.
I don't like the CRT/GP set up but without it there would have been only 12 bikes this year and that is not good. However, it has brought forward the ideas of Honda providing bikes for sale and Yamaha providing engines for privateers. Suzuki are considering a return and other manufacturers will also be thinking about how they can get involved.
The days of hugely expensive prototypes has gone - there is not enough money around to fund such playthings in enough quantity so unless someone comes up with a plan to mend the world economy instantly, other options have to be considered all of which involve re

For me Rossi will be fighthing for the title and the part of Nothingh else matters is wrong, he will be a contender no doubt about that but i also have my respect for Lorenzo and Pedrosa, two riders that until now never change bikes Lorenzo is 2 times WC for Yamaha making is best and tuff sesson this year, Pedrosa also have is best year with Honda so Rossi will have a really hard chanllage for 2013, im confidente that he will be there and can Win the title but is rivals are not kids anymore will be a tuff year if they made all year without crashes will be fight until Valencia like this year is my prediction..

Also i dont dircard this guys, Bradl is the 2 year and like we wach from Cal that have a good 2 year Braadl can be really dangerus now and will have factory support for 2013 and thats what i fear most Honda is really great when they put there minds worcking they build bikes very strong normaly the best package, also Marquez will be there i be, Can be is 1 year but this kid is somethingh to wach no doubt, then we have Cal that can be on the tech3 but since Tech3 have a roockie in there now like Smith insted of 2 good riders like this year with Dovi and Cal maybe yamaha will support more Cal like Honda do with Bradl.. About the Ducati dont expect dangerus but we never know if the evolution for 2013 will be more competitive.. I think 2013 will be more fun then 2012 thats 4sure!!
