It will remain a mystery as to why Ducati refused to do anything positive with their bike. Even signing Valentino Rossi and paying him a vast amount didn't budge them when it became apparant even he couldn't turn the pigs ear into a silk purse! It seems like a total waste of everything to me - money, time and above all the reputation of a good rider, so what goes on behind the scenes seems totally ridiculous. Somebody somewhere must know what is going on, but to everyone else it is a total enigma!!!!

It's not a mystery! And i have the answer to this. Their biggest mistake was to hire VR. They pay him tons of money 'cause they believe he could make the difference. Unfortunately for them, they forget the fact that todays motorcycles which based on electronics and others gadgets, make the difference. NOT the driver himself.
It would be better to load this tons of money to development initially and hire someone youngest and mostly cheaper driver. So when when they run out of cash, they didn't develop nothing at all and wait from poor Vale to win only 'cause his Vale...

In other words, if you are a B or C category football team, it's a HUGE mistake to spend your money just buy Messi and wait everything from him!!!!

@ nicon duc,s mistake was not listening to the riders n thats all of them not just rossi . oh yeah they ride m8 not drive sorry just ad to point that out .As for the rides ability this is very important and not all riders can ride that same level. Preziosi got to cocky n thought he could build what honda blow a huge amount of money ant time at in the 80s

People seem to forget there was an extra HRC bike for Rossi to compete against in 2011 compared to Stoner in 2010. Plus Marco came into his own so there was essentially 2 extra bikes between him and the podium. Vale actually matched Dovi on his HRC in the early part of the season. He was without doubt the fastest rider apart from stoner to get on the Duc. The problem is all the development did not fix anything! Which is why Preziosi is a goner.

@ AussieNSW

I'm not saying they're the God's or even GOAT for Vale but If they're average as you say why the other Duc's like Pramac (always behind sat. yamahas) or Nicky Hayden didn't do anything special the last to years and they end-up behind Vale-Burgess duo?

Your Aussie-Mate CS told us what is going on with the Duc. And his statement describes the hall situation.

I respect him therefore i believe him!

As for Audi stepping and appointing a BMW head man to run the team for me it's not a problem. The Lamborghini is now powered by an Audi engine. German engineering skills and Italian passion for motor sport makes for me a good team. Don't be surprised to see a completely new bike come the start of the new season.

The carbon chassis Casey and Nicky

Won first time out with Casey on board and then managed another 3 wins,Casey took a 3 race walk about and still finished just 14 points behind the alian Dani in his 3rd year on the mighty RCV.Nicky first year of learning wasn't that good.

Allthough not a brilliant year for Casey suffering 5 retirements, 3 times 5th and 2 4ths all the rest were on the podium, with 13 races to go in the season he retired 3x was off the podium once and deliverd 3 wins.
Nicky was getting his head round the Duc and managed 7th,Ben displaced him for 6th with what many people thought to be the 3rd factory yam by 13 points.

I think that isnt bad for a totaly new concept that was the carbon chassis.
