All of Stoners races were fantastic. He's quite simply the greatest MotoGP racer of the modern era. Even his peers attest to that.
The more amazing thing is he's achieved most of this on a bike that was easily the worst in the field.
A bike that even a so called GOAT was 2 seconds per lap slower on and in fact ended up getting lapped on!
Dominating and destroying the myth of a GOAT and retiring as a true legend of the sport is the greatest any racer could hope for.

read a few comments arguing vales ducati was different from stoners.
indeed it was , stoner rode 2 totally different versions in his time there , in 07 he had no off season practice with the trellis framed bike other than the end of season test , so come losail 07 he had hardly any knowledge of the bike.
09 he was given yet another bike to start over again with in the CF design , something no one had ever tried before with no data or experience with such a radical Frankenstein bike.
2010 vale did the end season test on stoners 2010 bike , then the bike changed over & over to vales ideas.
by the end of 2012 the bike was almost Frankenstein again to ducati with the alloy twin spar , but thats what vale ordered , so the bike he left behind is his own version.
sadly no version of ducati prototype is ever any good.
but that is simply because it needs the right tyre to make it work , those tyres were taken away from it after 07 and sadly moved to yamaha.

Both of these guys have entertained us with fantastic riding, some dodgy moves and controversial comments....let's celebrate this and look forward to next season. There's other great riders out there too.

Rossi fans...

Valentino Rossi: "Before we ride the Ducati, we don't know how Casey could be so fast on it. Now, nearly two years later, we still don't know. Some riders, it not only destroy their careers, but even their minds..."

Rossi fans see it differently though.
Stoner beat Rossi, Rossi Fans: "It's the bike."
Rossi couldn't ride the Ducati: "It's the bike."

They nervously await the coming season, excuses at the ready...

Fans of sports in general are so typical. When their hero triumphs, it's due to his/her heart, desire and skill. If they fail, it's due to circumstance. The same applies to how they discredit their hero's rival(s).

Rossi needs the best bike....Stoner's 2007 Ducati was a missile....Rossi has more WCs....Stoner had better results on the Ducati....blah blah blah

The Stoner vs. Rossi debate will rage on till the end of time because the only true and fair comparison has never been presented to us: both men on the Honda at the same time, on the Yammy at the same time, and on the Ducati at the same time, using different tracks with no other competition to alter their battle.

Again, this will never happen, so let the fanboyism rage on!

Well it is interesting that the Vale fans have to reinterate their hero's greatness in a story devoted to Stoner, but when you think about it, kind of a backhanded compliment to casey!

All the best mate, thankyou for the magic on bikes that no-one knew were how difficult to ride until your great rival tried to ride them!

Bring on 2013

laguna seca is the very best of casey, though only got a second podium, but the most important thing is Rossi who won the series would never be able to do as did Casey with DUCATI
