If you haven't heard of this kid before, he won the Rookies Cup in 2011 but finished 8th in 2012. He also finished 8th in the CEV Moto3 so he's not bad. His biggest problem this year was that he is about 6 foot tall and still growing! Far too big for a small Moto3, he reminds me a lot of Simoncelli with his size. I think he would suit Moto2 more, but you have to get your foot in the door first, we may see him in Moto2 in 2014 with Gresini.

No, only Antonelli was riding for them.

There will be many hopeful Italian riders in Moto3 next year. Fenati, Antonelli, Baldassarri and Bagnaia. And Kevin Calia and Matteo Ferrari (Italian Moto3 1-2) could be good too, don't know much about their future.

Kevin Calia looks likely to be riding alongside Jonas Folger at Aspar on a Kalex KTM in 2013 (he raced for them at the final CEV round a got a podium) and Matteo Ferrari is riding for CBC Corse (Ongetta-Centro Seta in 2012) on a FTR Honda. So it finally looks like Italy are getting some good riders in the smallest class again! It's about time I'd say! We just need more Japanese riders now, there's only gonna be one competing in Moto3 again next year, Hyuga Watanabe for Caretta alongside Tonucci.

@ sw

Sorry, I should have included him. I thought he was not as fast as the others I mentioned, but the Japanese race with his podium proved me wrong.

@ tucker

Thanks for the info. Looks like every promising Italian rider from the CIV/CEV/Rookies Cup will be in Moto3 next year!
