Well he has proved to be consistent on the smaller bikes. Now he has the winter to build strength. Yeah he will put it down a bit in his first year lets just hope he learnt a thing or two from lorenzo's first year.

I see Marquez's first season as very similar to Lorenzo. He will be immediately fast and challenging for top spots, but he will have a lot of hiccups. It really took Lorenzo a full season to figure out how not to crash so much. I've been a Lorenzo fan since 250 days and I gotta say, he's got his work cut out next year. Finally we'll have at least 4 bikes fighting for the front. Still won't be like it use to, but having a 4th rider at the front will spice things up.

@ Makrus
The lap times from sepang practice and warm up are not indicative of how fast Marquez really is or is not. The weather at sepang this year was crappy and most of the free practice were hedging on rain or washed out. Again his time would have qualified him for 8th, so he is getting there although not there yet but great start...
I agree that his enthusiasm will get the better of him first half of the year just as it did on Moto2 where he DNF for the first 4-5 races but look at his consistency this year...
Let's not over pressure this kid.. so much is expected that if he doesn't get the title in 2014 a bunch of idiots on here will say he is a failure even if he challenges for it.

Actually I was at sepang and the warm up was very dry it wasnt untill moto3 started that dark clouds came over the hill. I think the over pressuring began as soon as he signed for a factory team in his rookie year. If he finishes fourth he has done well and ill be happy, although I'm hoping for better :)

Imo this lad has a very bright future in motogp.... He's got everything, talent, skill, speed, save one: patience..but he'll mature soon enough, i hope..

I'm expecting a win from him. motogp has had garbage talent from the middle class since 2008. no rookie has recorded a podium since 2010 and a win since 2008 so hopefully him iannone and smith will shake things up a bit.

IMO, I dont think he'll crash a lot, I dont think he'll be too enthusiastic either. I honstly think he will be fighting for the race win from round one all year and I also think he could win the championship.

People are forgetting hr has walked into gp's with THE best bike team and budget, theres alot of serious people around him who are very capable of manipulating and guiding him in the right way.

not sure if quick lap times on an empty track are the best way to judge ones skill set. poor alvros bike will not be able to run those times running showas, so I wouldn't think you could say the kid is faster there either. either way hopefully his abilities improve the show and hopefully his over egger passing/ crashing other riders won't follow him to gp. it should be fun to watch the veterans teach him a bit of humility at first.
