Conditions were far from perfect it seemed, so the time set is most promising. Still, that doesn't mean he will win races right away, but he will get better till the start of the season. Keep everybody's shirt on, please, before you start calling him "legend", OK? Let him deliver something first.

@ J I see what you mean, but so what if people are wrongfully jumping the gun and giving him legendary status. I know it's stupid as it is too early but I don't think it's puting any extra pressure on Marc. I mean I seriously doubt after testing yesterday the first thing Marc did was jump on the crash forums to see how the public rated his performance. I saw in an interview with casey this year and they asked if he had been teaching Marc anything along the way? Casey said nothis guy already thinks he is the best so I don't think he really wants any advice. My point is this guy looks very confident and already thinks he can mix it with the best. Things will need to go real bad for a while before this guy starts getting too affected by pressure. - Unregistered

Marquez is talent, everyone knows that. He seems to be adapting well to Motogp, no surprise there. What is his real potential?
1 - Will he be just the good rider, something like Dovi, Bradl or Spies, getting the odd podium? Apparently no one believes that. If he does just that, it seems that everyone will consider him a failure. Man, this world is tough!
2 - Will he be one the best, getting to a level only matched recently by Lorenzo, Pedrosa or Stoner, and having speed and skill to be WC? Everybody believes that, even if not just this first year.
3 - Will he get to the next level, being better than everyone else? Some believe so - I don't! He may, he is talented, but so far I didn't see anything else that I didn't see in Lorenzo, Pedrosa or Stoner.

(On purpose I didn't compare him to Rossi, as Rossi is from the previous generation, even if he did beat everyone from the current leading generation... )

2 agree.
would have been 8th on the grid....a lot of people on here were hammering jonathan rea for his lap times but didn't he have the same position when he first rode stoner's bike?

...some common sense for a change (which is nice). Thats the reality but reality tends to get hijacked by perception.

MM has the potential and more so than most in the last 2 decades but it needs to be realized and until then he is just another entrant who has no championships, points standings, wins or poles in the premier class as yet.

Some interesting comments from a few implying MM could win the Motogp championship next year. Wont happen. Clearly he is a special talent but so are some other folks already in the field. Next to zero chance him winning it all in 2013.

November 28, 2012 12:54 AM if he did end up just a good rider like Dovi or Ben then yes it would be considered by some to be a failier but the some considering that would know how MUCH has been put into him.

and markg...If HRC didn't think he could fight for the title he would be on a satilitte bike and not THE bike !!

and without being offensive Mr Honda may know a little more about what their looking at than you.

This aint rocket science, yep there are riders out there of very similar or equal talent but none with the backing he has. Hmm lets think who's the last rider with that amount of talent and that kind of backup from the word go ..........oh yeh Rossi.

Hey rod I imagine allot of thought was given to Edwards toseland and spies when they got their chance... And again MM has virtually zero chance of being champion next year. Maybe someday, not in 2013
