@confused: The CRT bikes are limited on fuel and number of engines - WSBK don't have a limit on engines. It's been suggested that a factory WSBK team puts a new engine into the bike for every session.

That said, it is pretty sad that the Aprilia production based bike is doing (testing) times pretty similar to the Ducati motogp bike.

But similarly, there were tracks when the moto2 pole setter was almost faster than Rossi on the Ducati this past year. 120hp production engine vs 250hp full prototype engine, you wouldn't think they could get so close.

"For me let it be, WSBK for the pride of Commercial Bike, MotoGP for the pride to Prototype Bike.."

the whole distinction between SB & GP is only time (4-5 years).

the whole concept of GP is cutting edge innovation testing series for eventual incorporation onto production bikes? If it takes roughly 4-5 years to develop a production model, I would think logically that a current WSBK should be posting times as quick (if not quicker) than GP bikes of 4-5 years agao.

Of course, this will be altered by tires, tuning restrictions etc, etc, but I think the point is still valid.

I would be worried if there were 2+ second disparity between WSBK & GP all else being equal. It means the general public paying $20k+ (at the cheap end of the scale) for all the "innovation & development" are simply getting jibbed.

@ Rossi ruined Ducati......What a sad comment!
Nicky clearly stated that the Ducati he is riding now is the best Ducati he's EVER ridden so yes, Rossi's input has made a positive impact on the development, as Rossi said he wants to make the Ducati ridable for every rider!
Wow, people are so bitter over a 9 time World Champion!
Get a life and move on FFS!

Oh man! The diff is just shy of 1 tenth. That is nothing! And I am pretty sure that Hayden did his job well. This just goes to show that something is wrong with the regulations! That also means that WSBK machine with some modifications could go even faster (than a MotoGP bike) for a fraction of the cost, and just to remind You, they are more than 10 kg heavier. Not good, thats for sure!

looking forward to the new season,
but for the sake of motogp we want all makes up front in the mix makes for a brighter season and non of the crap that we are seeing in the aftermath of the F1 season thats very sad........

Don't forget the difference in tyres, if MotoGP prototypes used the WSBK Pirellis (and they worked) they would be a lot quicker. The Bridgestones are designed specifically for slowing down MotoGP bikes while still giving normal race wear. No tyre war no silly times.
